Ok, Brad, here's a few places to check out to get your art geek on.

James Gurney Author/Artist of the Dinotopia series. I've met him and he's the real deal. An artist's artist. He's widely respected among professionals and his daily blog spun off two books about art that rival Andrew Loomis' books of the 40s.

Muddy Colors This blog was started by book cover painter Dan Dos Santos and includes Greg Manchess, Danato Giancola, John Jude Palencar and Petar Meseldzija. If you want to learn about art from people that are in the trenches, this is the daily blog for you.

Marc Hanson Landscape artist that simply blows me away. Brushstrokes of genius.

Craig Warwick Hands-down the best auto racing artist out there.

Rick Berry Very painterly and also a good guy.

Andriod Jones Digital art as it should be. Wild and techno.

Concept Art.org This is of the of the forums that professionals and Art Directors frequent. Tons of good stuff here.

CG Society Another site the pros go to. Very nice digital art here.

There are many more but I'll end it here for now. But last and certainly least, is my blog

Blog

I had that posted in the TF1 blog section at one time, then took it down. But what the hell, here it is again....and for some reason the header font is screwy...grr. It's primarily used to post my art musings and some practice/process stuff. There are a few pics of me in costume for reference shots, so you're warned....

Oh, and while you're checking all this out, here's a podcast that interviews all the top illustrators and artists...and the guys are natural and fun as well.

WOW, what a treasure chest!!!....

I'm familiar with Gurney's website (master colour specialist) and conceptart.org. You should check out the threads created by Bumskee (Min Yum) on conceptart, really informative with great insight for mastering painting in Photoshop. The guy has good technique and is bloody good!

I've got all my links at home, so I'll make sure to fill and post them over here soon....

hey, you're not doing too bad as a reference model, actually quite stellar!

Don't have time to properly digest at the mo, but your blog looks very interesting, I'll save the link. Have'nt set mine up yet...

Brad, since you're venturing into 'analog' painting, here's a quote I have pinned above my easel.

Brush strokes carry a message whether you will it or not. The stroke is just like the artist at the time he makes it. All the certainties, all the uncertainties, all the bigness of his spirit and all the littleness are in it.

Very INSIGHTFUL!!!!

To give you an example, here's 2 paintings I did 2 and a half years ago, it lacks a little bit of freedom, or expression if you will. Mind you I did it with a mouse back then. I have since acquired a bottomline Bamboo Wacom, and hope to use my strokes with more freedom.

I'l post all my links on the weekend and maybe we should also post paintings that we find relevant... It will sure take me some time to got thru yours lol

Here's the 2 paintings... You'll notice it's weaknesses, as I've mentioned b4....

Excellent Brad! You're anatomy is spot on and those paintings really have some life to them. Of course your composition is fantastic, but that's to be expected from a graphic artist ;)
