Murrary To Comentate For BSkyB

Recommended Posts

Apparantly Murrary Walker is considering re-turning to the commentary box this year with Sky's new coverage of F1.  When asked to coment he said neither yes or no.  Sounds to me that its a real option that he is considering.

We will have to see, you have to learn Nick that about 90% of F1 news is rumours apart from the factual stuff such as testing times and such. But I could imagine Murray coming back, but I dont know if already next season, 2003 maybe?

If the rumour turns out to be true....

   Lucky for some

Some countrys, like mine for example (New Zealand) have to rely on ITV coverage, so even if sky gets Murray we and a lot of other countrys won't, so I hope you realise how lucky you are (if it's true of course).

Nikosnz.

Hi, I'm from NZ as well.

Were you aware that TV1 will NOT be showing F1 this year?  TV3 and Sky are bidding for it - but as yet, we are without coverage... maybe another 1999 :(

Yeah i know Jens, which is why i said 'apparently'.  And when asked to comment he said something like "its a no comment" which sounds to me that these rumours of a return to the commentray box weren't all untrue and that it is an option which he might be considering.

I don't think he will come back though, as he has already said his final goodbye etc... and everyone has given him a fond farewell.

Really Raelene

I hadn't heard that, Hope some one gets it (TV3, I don't have Sky sport)

But I suppose if worst comes to worst we can watch on TotalF1, (no offence TotalF1 guys but a 21inch TV is a better option than a 2inch window)

I was standing next to Murray Walker last Tuesday, and he wouldn't be drawn - "life is unpredictable" (complete with a coy grin.

He then goes and scotches the rumours the next day.

Oh well, we'll let him have his fun!

everytime I remember that we wont have Murray this year it gets me down, I am going to miss his commentary this year...

And Nick, we get the ITV coverage on channel 9 with Alan Jones and Darrell Eastlake doing the pre race stuff.

All in all channel 9's coverage is complete crap though as it is hardly ever live and we get about 20 seconds of qualifying highlights....

Well we didnt get the 2001 season here in the US because the rights were sold to Speedvision, a satellite channel that only satellite people get. It was available to mayb 10% of cableTV subscribers across the US and of course I wasnt in any of those zones. We did get the USGP through ABC though, and their coverage wasnt bad at all, they had the satellite feed with all the nice cameras and such so Im hoping they get the rights for this year. This year the channel is available to everyone though, so no matter what channel gets rights (ABC, Speedvision, ESPN, FOX?) I will once again be able to see the races.

When I move back to Finland soon though I will be assured coverage, becuase if it wasnt available on regular channels there the whole country would pretty much overrun Bernie Ecclestone and the people responsible. I am hoping though that ABC, as I already said, get the rights because Speedvision commentators suck and the channel is so cheap as to not even take their own cameras there and just bite off the host country's feeds. ABC had the satellite feeds with all kinds of great angles.

I have found out that in New Zealand this year we will have coverage on TV1 (our previous suppiler) but this was only decided 2 weeks before the first race, cutting it a little fine I think.
