Looking through an old F1Racing mag a couple of days ago I read the article that you refered to Jens, Button was doing 230km/h. In that article it included what you mentioned daz about Senna, and yes you do remember to correctly.

I have that same F1 Racing mag somewhere, which is where I remember reading that it was in a diesel car. That's bloody fast for a diesel!!!

It was July 2000 issue. It also stated that BAR had confirmed switching to Michelin tyres for 2001.

Yep I found it last night as I searched my bookshelf for it. It was fun to read the old news, and all the runup stuff towards the first USP in 9 years. I remember BAR had the whole Michelin thing lined up and signed, but I think they pulled out at the last moment before everything was signed.

Old news is great, I particually like reading the race predictions immediatly after the race to see just how wrong the so called experts sometimes are.

The thing is you cant exactly predict a race there are so many factors controlling it. It is just down to luck, a bit like Nostradamus who made so many predictions that some were bound to turn out true.

This season though it has been quite easy to say that a Ferrari will win.

I think thats down to them not wanting to admit that Ferrari will win no doubt, there is nothing the other teams can do about it.

I reackon more of them would take the chance if McLaren of Williams were at the top dominating.

That is simply because most of the F1 press is British, and no doubt theyd rather have a Mclaren or Williams winning.

I think when it comes down to it F1 is like the Olympics, many fans just cheer on the drivers and teams from their own countries. I know there arent too many Schumacher fans in Finland for example..

I suppose so, in NZ we have no nome town heroes in F1 right now (go Scott Dixon), and I know people who are British, Maori, Dutch, German, Indian, Samoan, French, Chinese, Egyptian, South African, Japanese, Australian, Fijian, Sri Lankan etc. So we get a mix of favourite drivers.

Would be interesting to see Scott Dixon break into F1 from CART.

I havent been following CART too actively this year, but I saw the race where he first won and thought to myself that he will one day be in F1.

You don't need to be following CART very actively at all this year to know da Matta will win no doubt.

I did know that he was leading, but only because every single news report about Toyota's drivers for 2003 said so

I don't follow cart. Somehow the prospect of going round and round the same track without any chicanes or bends but for the ovals doesn't impress me very much. I am very well an F1 addict, but honestly can't figure out how someone can be interested in CART.

I don't follow CART either, but I do know who's leading, and how well Scott Dixon is doing, that is about all.

CART is something that I've always tried to follow but never really get to it. I do know though that da Matta has locked up the championship at Miami, or am I mistaken?

Yes I heard that too. At least wil CART there are some street and road circuits, in the IRL there is only ovals.

IRL is just an openwheel NASCAR, there is no difference. It is so low in popularity that tickets are on sale for $4.
