Premier1 delayed to 2004...

Recommended Posts

The Premier1 racing series has again been delayed, this time to 2004. It was supposed to start next summer but will not make its debut around the time F1 does in 2004. I dont know what I think about it all, if they actually do deliver what they promise, highspeed and close racing, then Im all for it but it also depends on what drivers the teams get. I hope a few F1 people move over, Johnny Herbert for example said that he was interested a while back.

With the way F1 is currently going team bosses should indeed be worried, because it sounds like the Premier1 series is going to hit the ground running when they start, it sounds like they are really getting things done and have the cars that F1 should have - not dependent on aero grip as much and can race a lot closer as they say. But drivers will be a big part, if they do well then it will be very fun to have two worldwide racing series to follow and more room for up and coming drivers to race in - if F1 is full they can have a chance in Premier 1, and vice versa. But as I said I cant really say anything until they get cars on track, good news is also that they will reportedly be using a few of the F1 tracks, and also tracks that many would like to see in F1.

If it does get off the groung, and IF is competes with F1 in respect to racing, viewing etc. Drivers sallaries should come down as there will be twice as many drives to choose from.

Hi Jens and Nichos,

well all this is news to me but surely Premier F1 sounds like , looks like and most probably is SIMILAR to Formula 3000 !!!!!!!

at the moment F3000 is the forerunner for MOST drivers into F1, similar technology similar speeds etc etc ..

In reality I cannot see how Premier F1 can succeed..

WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN is for the SUPREMO Bernie to relinquish his total strangle hold on the rules for F1 and let the drivers decide them .. Those that cant drive and like all the refinements etc will soon be sorted out

Definitely F1 will come under threat though. If it goes as planned, Premier1 will have a great deal of motorsports fans as followers along with a great deal of football fans because every team has a backing from a football team, currently the likes of Leeds have signed up along with several others. I though do hope that Premier1 succeeds if F1 cant get its act together, which it better do.

I am yet to be convinced that Football fans will follow it just because the cars have the right stripes though, is that just me?

I dont really know, I dont remember if Arsenal has signed up but I will for sure be supporting whatever team they back if they do so! I think it will help, football fans support anything with their teams name on it..

Yip - if Man U sign up with a team then I'll be supporting them all the way.... Hope they hold the Premier1 races on alternate weekends to the GP though.. That would be great - never having to go a weekend without a decent race to watch :D:D:D

That would be fantastic, I used to be a more avid ManU fan but am now more an Arsenal fan. But not having to go a single weekend without a race for a whole season would be great! :D

A whole season with every weekend with a race. Wow. That's my dream coming true. Hope Premier F1 debuts soon. And I am with Man U.
