Dupasquier retires in winning form

Pierre Dupasquier, who has led Michelin's motorsport division for 28 years, may be retiring at the end of the year but does so on a high note having won the 2005 Formula One double with Renault.

Fernando Alonso wrapped up the Drivers' Championship title in Brazil in September, while his team Renault grabbed the Constructors' trophy in China on Sunday, beating McLaren in both Championships.

"I might be retiring at the end of the season, but I will leave with many warm memories of an exceptional farewell campaign," Dupasquier said.

"Michelin won't rest on its laurels, however. Our team will be hard at work again by Tuesday as it seeks to do it all again in 2006."

"To them and all our partners, I offer my very best wishes for the future."

Edouard Michelin, Michelin Chairman, added: "I would like to express my appreciation of Pierre's devotion to Michelin and, particularly, the values he represents: his sense of team spirit, his strong work ethic, his honesty and his respect for our partners."
