There is also an F1 track to be built at Beijing! They have so far not signed any deals for F1 races, as Shanghai holds the rights from 2004 to 2010. The Comp Speed track will look like this:

At least it isnt as horrible a track as Bahrain and Shanghai. It doesn't look like the work of Hermann Tilke for a change..

but the event that was planned earlier in the year did not take place.....after all the controversies!!!

However, observers were quickly assured that the FIA proposal of a driver exchange had not been rushed through, but was in fact, a prelude to the second annual Minardi Day

intended both as a celebration of the Faenza squad's ninth-place finish this season, and as a way of thanking sponsors, fans and the media for their unstinting support of the team throughout the season.

Schumacher took to a specially painted red European Minardi two-seater in order to give a number of his close friends the experience of a lifetime. The World Champion clearly enjoyed himself, recording 100 laps in the course of the private session.

Fifty lucky passengers, including sponsor representatives, VIP guests, and members of the media, will have a similar opportunity at Minardi Day, where they will experience Formula One performance first-hand around the 4.927-km Imola circuit that is home to the San Marino Grand Prix. The driver line-up for the event includes KL Minardi Formula One driver, Alex Yoong, the team's Formula One tester, Matteo Bobbi, F3000 frontrunner, Giorgio Pantano, and team boss, Paul Stoddart.

The day will be about more than just the European Minardi F1x2 cars, though, as there will be an action-packed support programme that includes pit-stop simulations, up-and coming Russian driver, Sergey Zlobin, carrying out high-speed demonstration runs of the Minardi PS01 Formula One car, and a driving display by the Minardi Formula Renault Junior Team.

i'd love too see Shumi race in a minardi!!!

Well yes, but that is just a sponsorship thing, he wont be racing a Minardi. Anyway that completely skipped off topic..

I don't like turns 6/7/8 but the other chicanes (although I don't like them) I can live with them, as F1 in full of worse chicanes than these. Better than Shang but yes a waste of money.

I think it is a mix of Melbourne and Sepang, but the good sides of both. I would prefer the Beijing track over the Shanghai one, but the deal is signed and sealed and no matter what we say nothing will change, as the whole Spa deal..

they have a horrible first corner!!!!!its cutting too much of a U and if the drivers pit...they might have a bigger advangate...as they can maintain the speed throughout the corner and then come out out for a nice straight 7th gear!!!

the part i dont like when it is soo straight that it reminds me of a nascar track aaaaah

if for anything plz F1 should not remind anyone of Nascar!!!

NASCAR there would only be left turns, making an oval We probably wont see this track in F1 for a long time though.

I read they are planning it to compete with Shang, when the new contract ends so for F1 2011 at the earliest. The GPWC (which is looking more and more unlikely) could not use it till 2008. So we won't see it foe at least 6 years, probably more.

thats if CART are prepared to 'risk' oversees races, having lost one, the very low crowd numbers at Rockingham (i was there ) , i dont think they are keen

It depends, the Chinese get very excited when foreign events take place in their country. And also the presence of Takagi and Nakano in CART would bring over fans from Japan... But you are right, the stands seemed almost empty at Rockingham when I watched it! And the whole cancellation of the Lausitz race at Germany..

CART is in decline, they will wait until they get themselves out of it before taking such a risk IMO.
