Warn Level

Well reasoned argument as always, Jay. I think a warn level, or whatever you like to call it, visible only to the member himself can act as a guidance tool. I'm thinking of the younger members here, or am I making unfair assumptions again?

I don't want to beat a dead or dying horse, but your comments presume that we have a legitimate role in identifying which forms of expression are acceptable and which are not, whether it be from youthful members or older ones (like us). Having said that, I accept that this forum is a private enterprise, and as such Wes and the moderators have the ability to administer it in any way or manner they choose, and therefore that speech or expression which does not meet with their approval will be sanctioned. Insofar as that is the case, they can do as they like, but it does not address the issue of whether it is legitmate or not.

Ultimately, the democratic nature of the internet provides the solution, which is that anyone who feels censored or pressured to modify their speech or expression has recourse to establish their own blog or forum, and administer it in a fashion more to their liking. Alternatively, one can attempt (with varying degrees of success) to influence the manner in which this forum is managed.

Either way, it is not a closed system, and if the internet has proven anything, it has established itself as the modern world's great equalizer.

I can't really disagree with you, (although I want to through sheer bloody mindedness ). I was going to post a rebuttal just for devilment, but I'm in a good mood today and don't want to think too much. Maybe after the festivities?
