Well the FIA are on the right track this time, maybe you are right Jens and H Tilke will get it (Turkey) right and really give the fans a double suprise.

It would certainly give a big boost, and a good time to make such announcements, as pre-season testing is about to get underway so any news like this would certainly get the public on their toes to follow testing and eventually the season.

Yes the announcement certainly has a 'watch-us' gimick aspect to it, let us hope it doesn't stay as a gimick, that it becomes reality. I have been hearing the F1 Media, fans, some designers (all former designers), and some drivers calling for changes along these lines, since I started following F1. Getting more fervent in their comments since the grooves got introduced.

Well I think it is just a general rule in motorracing that mechanical grip is better than the aerodynamic kind, simply because it is always there. Aerodynamic grip can come and go depending on how close you are to the car in front, wind direction etc.

And the direction the vehicle is going. A spinning car has little or no Aero grip, but would still maintain all mechanical grip.
