TotalF1 Forums PPP Competition

Right. As many are having technical problems and not too many have signed up as of yet on the subleague, I am considering trying to bring a version of last year's PPP to the board, that I will then run for each GP. Though I might not be able to get online for one or two GP's this summer, it would be of no problem as I would have you all send me a PM (personal message), and your picks would be waiting for me when I get online. Scores would only be delayed a bit. The reason I want you all to send a PM instead of posting is so your picks remain secret, and I would not partake as I would be the administrator of the event, as to remain neutral.

The subleague will still exist though, so for those that can get in we will have our own little competition.

My proposal for scoring would be this. Contestants will send in their picks for the podium and for the driver they think will take pole (this will be much harder to pick this year :D ), and who will set fastest lap in the race. For an answer that is spot on, no matter whether it is for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, fastest lap, or pole, the contestant will win ten points. For an answer that is one off (ie your pick for first actually finished second, or pole pick qualified second) the contestant will receive five points. A pick that is two off will receive three points, and a pick that is three off will receive one point. The same score system would apply to every pick, meaning that if you pick everything right you will max your points out at fifty points. All picks must be submitted by 12PM local time on the Saturday of the GP, allowing Saturday practice times to be considered. I will check to make sure that all picks have been sent in by this time. Any picks arriving in my PM inbox later will not be considered. If you are unsure of time conversions, visit THIS WEBSITE, or just send in your pics ASAP after Friday practice. You can find GP session start times (local) on websites like www.f1-live.com.

I am still thinking of any details to run the TotalF1 Forums PPP, but if I am fast enough I will make this weekend's Australian GP a test/practice run to see how it works, and then the season will kick off officially at Malaysia. Any suggestions on the scoring system, other ideas?

What I think I will do is cut qualifying from this practice round, so no pick for pole. Everyone wanting to participate send in your picks for the podium and fastest lap, and we'll see how it goes! Deadline will be 12PM Melbourne time on Sunday, so you have roughly thirty or so hours by my count.

For a practice round we had two entrants, but it seems to have worked well. Let's get everyone to play and it will get interesting!

Results for the practice round are:

1.) NichosNZ - 6 points (your pole pick was not counted)

2.) GaySchumi - 1 point

:D Clear winner here! For Malaysia if we can get, say round five entrants, then I will make it an official result. So, everyone, get to playing!

In the subleague, meanwhile, Team WishICouldChangeMyName leads, four points ahead of my own team, and Daz is close in third.

Bugger, I must say I'm not too happy about my failing powers of prediction, but oh well, I guess that's what happens when Mac-fan-at-heart blasphemously supports Ferrari to get material gains .... on second thought there are no material gains :D Good for you EnZed :)

I have a terrible memory, can't remember what exactly I picked, say Jens, what did I pick ? I think I put Kimi down for Fastest lap, and MS,RB, and Alonso for podium ... I guess I got the point for fastest lap, what a stroke of luck ... unless everything I've stated is but a fabrication of my senility :)

Hmmm. looking at the points system, I don't see how I could've put kimi down for fastest lap, come to think of it, I was struggling to choose between KR, and Rubens, I suppose I picked Rubens ... and I think a bonk on the head would serve to clear my head up some :)

Yea, why not? Everyone has until 12PM local time in Sepang to submit your picks, so if you're unsure when that is in your time zone, just have them in ASAP after Friday! :D

Actually pole is included yes, which is why picks should be in before qualifying on Saturday starts. I'll let it slide this time as you didn't have a pole pick and it was in almost on time, but just this once! :D

Does the pick for Fastest lap no longer count Jens.

Hi Jens

Quick question - I remeber that I had MS for pole & 1st and RB for 2nd but who did I put in third? Can't for the life of me remeber whether it was KR, RS or JPM...

:D:D

P.S. Who did get the fastest lap of the race yesterday? I didn't notice during the race but I'm guessing it must have being Kimi... He was a class above the rest in the race.

Daz; I believe MS had fast lap ! Kimi was cruzin along the last few laps and Iam positive that Schumi set lap and first sec. top times as he was pushing for points.

Fastest lap counts, but nobody had it right. Believe it or not Juan Montoya set the best time at 1:36.218, and since it is very hard to find the list of drivers fastest times I have made the fastest lap section a hit or miss, either you get 10 points for it being right, or 0 for it being off.

Fair enough, I was thinking MS had one of the top two times as he set the fastest lap very late. So I figured at most one person beat him. But if that is a hit or miss section then fair enough it is the same for all of us.

Yea, I used to have all the fastest lap info streamed through Bernie's digital feed to an online host, but since it's no longer available I have trouble getting from anywhere as no one seems to care about who got second fastest lap!
