im guessing you know what this is about already considering its me posting it and the title.

Now the rules don't say that he can't get a push from where he was....but the fact that he urged them to do it and eventually 5 or so guys came out and helped is prety crap becuase if it was say montoya or webber in the same position they wouldn't have got help..its just becuase it was a home gp for him and he is the number #1 (cough cough) sorry was chocking on my words :lol:

Yes he was lucky that it was not Silverstone as the brits would have just picked him up with the tractor crane.

Although the McLaren drivers were a little annoying for me, Raikkonen stayed on the racing line for soooo long after his engine blew 4 corners from memory. DC, well what can I say, it was not so much his on track actions but his complaints afterwards, he complained about Alonso braking too early for the corners several times, including the time DC went off (haha). What does he expect Alonso was clearly having problems in the corners, of course he is going to adapt his driving to keep someone behind. Isn't that 3 times now Alonso has had to nurse his Renault home this season?

Heard an interview with Sam Michael from Williams yesterday where he said that what Michael did was perfectly legal. Apparently the rule was changed at the beginning of the year to allow it, provided the engine on the car is still running. I say good for Michael, that he kept his cool, used his head and managed to salvage some crucial points at the end of the day. A person like Montoya would have being to emotional to even think about trying to get a push out of the sand.

I feel that a lot of the fuss about the circumstance is based around the fact that Schumacher (as opposed to a direct rival or brit) had the presence of mind to be the first to benefit from the new allowance in the rules.

:rolleyes::blink::unsure:

Is there an uproar about this ? At least there isn't one in the media. Funniest thing, I always thought, that a push was legal, as long as the engine hadn't stalled :D But yes, definitely kudos to MS, for keeping the engine from stalling. And to Montoya for putting him there :D

BTW, did anybody catch that half-second clip of Kimi shoving the marshal after he got out of the car ? :) I guess the 'Iceman' cracketh :D

Really, it was quick thinking, I just thought he was out of the race for sure, maybe thats why he's a 5-time World Champion, he knows how to use his head where it matters. Even after the race when asked about Montoya passing him, he clearly said it was a racing accident and seemed really cool about it. Had it been the reverse Montoya in Schumacher's position he would have been all over Michael.

The race overall was pretty exciting, I just feel sorry for Villeneuve, he qualified on the back of the grid, had some problems in trying to pass the two Minardi guys for a while. When he finally did pass them, he hit the rubber markers by the chicane and broke his front wing. After that he couldn't do anything more and finally he had gearbox problems and that was it. As for David Coulthard, he shouldn't have assumed what Alonso was going to do, instead he should have been more aware of what was actually going on.

Yeah, and Michael almost had him at the end too. If Schumacher wasn't cool-headed he would have rammed his Ferrari at the back of Alonso. There was literally only an inch seperating Schumacher's front wing and Alonso's back tyre on the last turn of the last lap.

That last lap was quite exciting from those two.

I did notice Kimi shove the marshal, it shows anyone can get that emotional.

UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM I am Wodering what the media would say IF a marshall PUSHING M.S's car was INJURED !!!!!

That Rule would be changed Immediately ..... Correct !!!!!

Oh and come to think of it in the 1/5th world racing titles they DON"t have marshals, you run off the black stuff you stay there !!! Seems fair to me !!!

DC should have expected it,because Alonso did brake early purposely , like rally drivers often do,when they need to push the car from behind outside the road.

I am sure, looking at every replay ITV showed, that there was (more than) a cars width beside Alonso. Coulthard, if he was really as good as he says he is, should have been able to stay on the black stuff and just run wide at the corner.

Coulthard was getting desperate, considering what a terrible season he's been having. He just wanted a boost more than anything. I guess he felt that by passing Alonso (and getting that extra point) he could be fired up for the French Grand Prix. But apparently Coulthard got carried away and came with too much speed.
