I must have missed a few things here. I have been on holidays with no computer around , but I thought T.C. and a lot of the other electronic devices were to be banned at Silverstone ??

What happend? was it all a load of HOT AIR ? or did the usual Happen .. The teams overrulled the Rule makers ?

You aren't the only one who missed the news. It's been quite common lately. There was a decision a few months back to keep traction control, though launch control and automatic gearboxes will go from the start of 2004.

Hope it clears things up!

BTW. I don't know whether to like or not like this decision, guess it really doesn't make much difference in the end what I think though!

TC was allowed to remain on the condition that the teams made customer engines affordable to all teams. The same reason the multi-race-engine-rule was canned. Some how I can't help thinking that the engine suppliers will get around this, and provide customer engines at the same old price, yet retain TC and the one-race-engine-rule.

You know when you get down to it, it'll

be interesting to see how some of these

customer lumps will meld with the customers

own chassis, look at how they are making

the engine so much more a part of the

whole package ie: suspension mounting

exotic gearboxes etc. It seems that they will

almost have to sell the customers the whole

deal from the tub back !!!

True! Gearbox design for example is such an integral part of engine design that I still don't understand what the customer package will be.. still I think it a little stupid that the FIA has to force manufacturers to sell. I'd rather that they put their efforts into bringing in more manufacturers.

The FIA have publicly said for years that they do not want manufacturer reliance though, as a return to the like of the Climax vs Ferrari or Cosworth vs Ferrari days is still possible, in fact in the long term likely.

well the engine/gearbox/suspension setup has been around for well YEARS. I don't see a problem with this proposal as long as it cuts down on the costs so they can waste it more on BERNIE
