Davidson - key driver

Davidson is the 3rd driver for Bar and friday's driver. He considers himself the key driver for Bar, because Button/Sato will be economising Kms on Fridays and Davidson is the one that is going to help the team.

I dont quite understand this.

Button has already said that for 2004 he will be on the podium many times he just needs luck, and he believes he will be on the podium already in Australia.

So after these quotes from Button, I dont understand how can Davidson be the key driver.

sounds like it is due to the new 1 engine rule.

Button wont do too many laps on Friday to save his engine and BAR will expect Davidson to help the team with set-up etc by getting more track time on Friday.

Has anyone else noticed that Davidson has, on the whole, been quicker that Sato in testing? If he can do this in 2004, which wont be difficult, he would put forward a good argument for replacing Sato after he inevitably crashes the car innumerable times…Why oh Why? JV was the best choice but there was also Wurz, Davidson etc who could have signed for BAR…if only HONDA hadn’t insisted on nationality getting in the way of talent.

If Honda have their way, Sato will be quite safe in his seat unless he really, really, really, sucks. Davidson will get a race seat soon enough, and it would be nice to see him at BAR alongside Jenson

Oh well, that’s never going to happen is it – 2002 was a flash in the pan – in 2004 Sato intends on finishing races not just competing in them!
