Mika Hakinnen - only Kimi is good.

Recommended Posts

Apparently for ex champion Mika Hakinnen, the 2004 drivers are no good and they do not stand a chance for 2004.

Schummie needs to be brought down from his pedestal he said.

Montoya doesnt take enough chances.

Ralph is not consistent, etc etc etc

Why did Mika leave F1? After all he is racing in Finlands Rally.

He should come out and say he believes Kimi is the best and that he will win this year, but now come out and put all the other drivers down....

Oh I forgot, the other driver he believes is good is Mark Webber.

That is just like Hakkinens style, watch a large percentage of his post race interviews (including at least half his wins) and it is moan moan moan.

You’re taking what Mika said out of context. He didn’t say everyone but Kimi is bad but he did say he thought Kimi was the best, which is a fair comment.

Mika's comments on almost all the drivers, and he took the time to mention one by one and their defaults in F1.

Only Kimi and Mark Webber are the ones that impress him.

When an ex-champion bothers to tell the press that Schummie this, and Montoya that, and Ralph that etc etc ad none of it is good, as far as I know that is talking bad things about drivers.

He did say something good about Giancarlo Fisichella. Besides, just because Mika is an ex world champion doesn't mean he's not allowed to voice his opinion. I'm sure if he came out and kissed M$' rear end you wouldn't be saying its bad for him to say what he says. Come on, seriously.

“talking bad things about drivers”

“Mika's comments on almost all the drivers, and he took the time to mention one by one and their defaults in F1”

Yer…we all know how outspoken Mika was…he’d just rant and rave about the opposition, never caring about what his words could do…. you have to miss the real personalities of F1!

At the end of the day they are just words. If Alonso, Button, Fisichella, Montoya, Raikkonen, Schumacher's, Webber let the words of a ex driver (champ or not) affect them in a positive or negative way, then maybe they are not mentally strong enough to be in F1.

Here are some quotes of what Mika said about the F1 drivers, read through it and tell me that it is fair for any driver to say these thinks about the other drivers.

Please note that Mika never said ANYTHING BAD about Schummie, but I am still against him, because I like all F1 drivers and not only Schummie, they are all great men, doing their best and risking their lives for us as well.

ALONSO - I havent seen anything so special that justifies all the media attention.

BUTTON - when he 1st drove a Williams, some people called him the Super Senna , that was ridiculous.

RALPH - he is very inconsistent and even after running 100 races is still the same and has to work much more.

MONTOYA - he is not consistent and was very carefull in his driving and a lot of times was worse then his team mate.

SATO - this is a driver with a wild and fast driving

MASSA - his driving is very rough and even after driving next to Schummie has not been polished at all, he doesnt know how to ride close to the other cars

KLIEN - although he is 20 years old he has not grown up yet and can be out of F1 very quickly

DAVID - he is also a very inconsistent driver

RUBENS - besides being inconsistent in all the races, he is always very far behind Schummie by a big margin.

After reading this and believe me there is much more, can you still say that it is ok for a driver to speak out like this.

he is definetely out of my books.

marina,

you've only emphasised my point further. He's right about every driver except Alonso who was brilliant last year and will win again this year. Yes it is ok for a driver to say what's on his mind. Even if he came out against JV, , yes you're reading right, lol, I wouldnt mind so long as what he was saying was correct and justified. Apart from his quote on Alonso, he's accurate. He's got an opinion and was asked to voice it. Why is it ok for you to voice your opinion and not for him?? Double standards I say. Truth hurts, some people can't handle it, thats all.

First of all my opinion only gets read on this forum and Mika's opinion gets read all over the world and especially by the drivers themselves.

Secondly you think he is right about most of them but what will the drivers themselves think? Is it fair for someone that has not got the guts to come back to f1, like they are, to say negative things about them?

Thirdly Mika always kept very quite while he was a driver, even at the interviews off the track a the pit boxes, and now he has so much to say.

Fourthly Mika's opinion certainly doesnt hurt me but annoys me, but I am sure it hurts those drivers, and that is not fair.:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Look, if Mika is good enough to dish it out, then he should be willing to cop some flack as well. It doesnt matter where your opinion is read, principle is that you've voicing you opinion, and good on you, that's why we're here, but that's what Mika was asked to do by the magazine and I'm glad he did, its about time he let rip!! If a magazine as big as F1 racing asked me, fat chance of happening, for my opinions I'd let rip, honest and straight-forward. I don't think Mika intended to cause harm to anyone, he just called it as he saw it, and thats fine. If any of the drivers he mentioned are hurt, as you put it, by his comments than what the hell are they doing in F1. They should use them as a spur to prove him wrong. Psychological weakness is a massive flaw in any driver who wants to win. If he's weak psychologically then he's going to be slow and prove Mika right.

You are being irrational. It's like feeling sorry for a chair because you sit on it. Mika isn't exactly the biggest personality, and doesn't often talk much, but when he does it is listened to. But it doesn't mean Jenson is going to go sit and cry in a corner because big old Mika rated him. I rate people's work all the time, usually quite directly if I must. Mika isn't rating, for example, Jenson as a person - he is rating Jenson the driver.

Saying it is unfair because he himself doesn't have the balls to come back to F1 - why should he? He has nothing left to achieve, has enough cash to live on, and most importantly he won't miss Hugo's childhood. With the amount of time F1 drivers spend away from home, most of them completely miss their kids growing up from baby to toddler to kid. It was Johnny Herbert's biggest regret.

I have followed Mika’s career for many years and seriously doubt the man spoke about all these characters in the way you have. Not all of the below is direct quotation is it? You have paraphrased and attempted to inject personal bias into what you have written. Nevertheless here are my thoughts:

ALONSO - I havent seen anything so special that justifies all the media attention-Slightly harsh but you do have to question him in terms of his experience, reaction to pressure and also question why, if he is the next MS, did he not beat Jarno more convincingly. He needs more time.

BUTTON - when he 1st drove a Williams, some people called him the Super Senna , that was ridiculous.-Comparing Senna to Button is ridiculous in anyone’s book.

RALPH - he is very inconsistent and even after running 100 races is still the same and has to work much more.-Ralf is inconsistent but really Mika should have concentrated on Ralf’s lack of talent to put forward a more convincing argument.

MONTOYA - he is not consistent and was very carefull in his driving and a lot of times was worse then his team mate.-I agree Montoya is very inconsistent but I don’t think he was at all careful in his driving style! He was not worse than his team mate.

SATO - this is a driver with a wild and fast driving-Far too generous. Sato is wild and slow and doesn’t deserve to be in F1. Period.

MASSA - his driving is very rough and even after driving next to Schummie has not been polished at all, he doesnt know how to ride close to the other cars-Again time will tell if he has calmed down.

KLIEN - although he is 20 years old he has not grown up yet and can be out of F1 very quickly-No one has actually seen Klien in F1 so I must reserve judgement.

DAVID - he is also a very inconsistent driver-slightly exaggerated but largely true. Of course David is also a very quick driver.

RUBENS - besides being inconsistent in all the races, he is always very far behind Schummie by a big margin.-Rubens has a history of being inconsistent in certain parts of the season. However he was actually the best qualifier of the 2003 season and beat Michael in a few races – Silverstone, Japan etc.
