spiralling costs

you hear a lot about the spiralling costs in f1.

do you think a budget cap or salary cap system could work?

i personally love the fact that f1 is the ultimate, and is the embodiment of the latest, best and most expensive automotive technology on the planet, but all the tech directors and engine makers have said that rule changes only ever lead to short-term cost increases and little to no long-term cost savings. and we're seeing the gap between have and have-nots widening substantially.

it would certainly entice new entrants for one. i can think of many for and against reasons. your thoughts?

It could never be done, though. I don't think an agreement could be reached. The idea is logical and it would help, but it is quite hard to take F1 backwards too much..
