Say what you like about how the GT1 World Championship is run, by my this series creates exciting races!

Exhibit A, Abu Dhabi, proving that you can have exciting races at the track thank you very much:

Exhibit B, Zolder:

GT racing is rapidly becoming one of my favourite forms of motorsport. Great commentary in both clips too.

You're always going to get more passing and closer racing when cars are mechanically glued to the ground, and not aerodynamically glued down, and if the driver has to gear change taking his hand off the steering wheel.

But yeah, GT racing can be fun...alot of what you see on TV can either be ruined or enhanced by the commentators too.

These races are on Bloomberg of all channels in the U.S.  I'm going to have to give one a try.  Cool stuff, thanks for sharing.

As someone who loves the television aspect of sports, I concur.

It's like a show with a brilliant concept and plot that gets ruined by unconvincing actors.  Auto racing is one of the hardest sport to produce, and probably to commentate, if only for the fact there are more than two teams playing.

Bit of a crash fest in this second race. Three of the four Nissans out, under SC currently. Driver changes soon.

Safety car about to come in.

Winkelhock/Basseng Lambo leading, Piccini/Hoenadel Aston second, Enge/Muller Aston third, Hezemans/Catsburg Corvette fourth. Very close racing with just over 20 minutes of the race left.

Yes Eric, there's a race tomorrow too. Qualifying race is always on a Saturday, the championship race is on a Sunday. The race is on at 2:15pm German time.

And yes, you should be able to watch that via that link. If not, try http://gt1world.com/gt1tv

Did you see the race Eric? I was out for the day so didn't. Sounds like it was a pretty crazy race. Here's a clip of the start.

Missed it too.  I'll get one one of these weekends.  Stayed out later than planned, went to bed with other things on my mind, totally forgot.
