  1. I don't know what's going on this year. Ever since the change to ESPN, I can't seem to consistently record F1 coverage. I always seem to get free practice, but I either miss the race or qualifying. I missed Monaco today, even though it was set to record on all channels. It's really annoying. So far Spain is the only race I've caught all of. Is anyone else having this problem?
  2. Has anyone in the US figured out how to watch F1 yet?

Hahaha! Oh dear! Yeah! I've literally had Hobbs as my F1 commentator since the 80s! He used to be with Bob Varsha and Peter Windsor back then. They were always familiar voices. I guess the new deal probably saves them money or something. Anyway, I changed my recording setup to catch repeats, and I think it caught the race last night. We'll see how that works. Thanks!
  3. McLaren A Driver's Graveyard

I keep finding myself wondering how they'd be doing right now if they'd stuck with Mercedes power. Top three?
  4. 2017 Race 3 Bahrain

That was a GREAT race IMO, and I think this is going to be a fantastic season. But it's all fun and games until one of these t-wings comes off and hits someone in the eye. I wonder how long it'll be before they're gone.
  5. Button to replace Alonso at Monaco.

Looking forward to seeing him back in the car, even if it is THAT car, and only for one race. Who knows? Maybe it'll rain and he'll make the top 10.
  6. 2017 Shanghai China GP - Who will dominate ?

    Works for me!
  7. Rosberg Retires....

Oh man. Can you imagine the first lap, first turn skirmishes between those two? Imagine Seb's race radio then! I'm actually starting to wish for this to happen. It's probably the best way to keep Hamilton from running away with the 2017 title, and boy would it be fun to watch.
  8. Rosberg Retires....

I would agree with that speculation.
  9. Rosberg Retires....

I think it's a combination of things. Another long, grueling season alongside Lewis looming before him, with all the accompanying drama that brings. Wanting to spend more time with his wife and daughter, and having other career opportunities that allow that. I'm sure it feels a lot better go to out on top like this. For me, 2017 is looking very interesting!
  10. Rosberg world champion at last.

It wasn't, and I still don't really see how the comment could be applied to him in any way. I was just saying that had Rosberg had a junior or rookie teammate, it would have probably been easier to dismiss this title.
  11. Rosberg world champion at last.

I'm a fan of JB and would love to see him back in a competitive car. I'll admit I've never been a huge LH fan, but I'm on the fence about his behaviour in that last race. I guess I can see his side of it where he's watching the championship slip away lap by lap. Tough break. If anything, the fact that Rosberg won the WDC with Hamilton in the same car makes it even more impressive. It's easy if you've got the fastest car and a slow poke teammate. Quite different when you're up against a multiple WDC.
  12. Thoughts On New Qualy

I loved it. Just kidding, it was horrible. So bad in fact that I probably won't record quali anymore until they change it back. It'll save DVR space, which will make my record-a-holic wife happy.
  13. 2016 Fw38

I don't see it posted yet, so... http://www.skysports.com/f1/news/12433/10155314/williams-reveal-2016-car-the-fw38 Looks pretty good!
  14. 2016 Fw38

It says 2016 on the pic, so I assume it's this years.
  15. Discussion of Sebastian Vettel's Season

    What's twitter?
  16. John Button Has Died

This is super sad. I really liked seeing his smiling face in the pits during the races. At least he got to see his son win his WDC.
  17. Sorry if there's already a thread about this. I'm amazed there isn't, but depite searching the forums, I've found nothing. So Speed loses the rights to broadcast F1 races in the US next year, and according to formula1.com, NBC is the new broadcaster. The article states that 4 races will be on NBC, and the rest will be on NBC Sports Network, which on our plan is a pay service. I'm not horribly happy about having to pay to see F1 after all these years (and even less happy about the possibility of losing the Hobbs/Varsha/Matchett team). Does NBC really think that F1 is popular enough in the US to charge for it? It seems like this would just reduce viewership. I'm sort of baffled.
  18. Goodbye Farce 1, You Will Not Be Missed!

Eh, I'm not crazy about the whole driving at 8/10ths for the entire race because the tires are constantly falling apart, or they measure the fuel down to the ml and have to nurse the car at the end of the race. I say stick some tires on there that will hold up for half the race at full bore, and let them hammer.
  19. Melbourne Practice, Qualy And Stuff Like That

Was it me, or did Vettel get some boos when interviewed on the podium? Alonso seemed to get the most cheers, but I dunno... not sure if Vettel is popular down under.
  20. Nbc Picks Up F1 Coverage In The Us For 2013

Yeah I was pretty impressed too. In fact the only thing I could find to criticize (and it's a small one) was that they didn't take us on a full in-car lap for the circuit overview in the beginning. That was something I liked. And a couple of times, the sound was out of sync (the sound we heard was not from the car we were sitting in). But overall, better than Speed, and I still have my fav announcers
  21. Melbourne Practice, Qualy And Stuff Like That

This was a pretty good race for me. Even though Jenson languished in the bottom of the points, Kimi (who I also like a lot) did fantastic. And I liked seeing Sutil doing so well. Might stop him from glassing someone in the post-race party.
  22. Nbc Picks Up F1 Coverage In The Us For 2013

It turns out I won't need to see quali as I just stumbled across a spoiler while web surfing. Plus, with another snoozefest RB front row, I probably wouldn't be able to keep my eyes open for it.
  23. Nbc Picks Up F1 Coverage In The Us For 2013

Yeah so far no complaints here. I was finally able to schedule my recordings, and despite some growing pains (Bottas listed twice on the list of drivers making it to Q2), I'm pleased. It'll be nice to finally be able to watch F1 in HD. My big TV is only 720, but it's more than adequate for me. I'm wondering if the postpones quali will get picked up by the DVR, or if it'll air at all.
