Had it not been for the quick thinking of the staff at Lloyds bank, Bernie Ecclestone could have found himself short a couple of millions, or even billions, earlier this week.

The F1 supremo's wife was the target a female crook who attempted to get away with identity theft, one of the fastest-growing crimes in the UK. The fraudster attempted to imitate Slavicia Ecclestone and obtained a passport in her name. The unnamed lady then tried to transfer money from Slavicia's bank account into a new one she had set up in the ex-model's name.

She was thwarted, though, when the staff at Lloyds TSB became suspicious. They quickly closed down the account and cancelled both the chequebook and card that had been issued to the crook.

Ecclestone was recently ranked in the top ten on the Sunday Times Rich List, with a fortune of

Why should Bernie get heaps from F1 and the teams that MAKE him the money get ZILCH ???

It appears that Paul Stodart ( Minardi) is not short of the preverbial dollar either as he is preparing to set up a commercial passenger airline in Australia to go head to head with Qantas and Virgin !! That type of operation requires more then pocket money !!! I wonder why he dosen't slide a bit of it Minardi's way ?????

Or is he just a shrewed Aussie trying to milk some more money from Bernie ? If that is the case then all the power to him
