Nick Heidfeld could test for Williams this week with a view to racing at the German GP.

Reports suggest that Williams have lost patience with test driver Marc Gene, who filled in for the injured Ralf Schumacher at Magny-Cours and Silverstone.

Gene finished 10th and 12th respectively in the French and British Grands Prix and is unlikely to get a third chance to impress.

Well, Williams are finally using their heads. Gene and Pizzonia were never going to be quick enough, but Nick might just be the ticket. The guy is massively underrated in my opinion. Although I want to see JV in a top team next year (how about Renault), I really want Heidfeld to be given a chance to prove himself- he deserves that much.
