Sauber have confirmed that they will use Ferrari engines again next year, continuing an association that began in 1997.

The Swiss team is the leading F1 outfit that does not have the backing of a major car manufacturer, and technical director Willy Rampf believes the engine supply deal with Ferrari is crucial to maintaining that status.

Sauber are currently only better than Minardi, Jaguar, Jordan and Toyota. Now with Jaguar leaving F1 and Toyota progressing in F1 where does that leave Sauber? Sauber haven

Toyota have accident-prone drivers next year and having a big budget might not equal success. Williams has to do a bit of rebuilding to get a more competitive car so Sauber might be able to compete with Williams. BAR and Renault need better reliability but that can be solved over the winter. McLaren got semi-reliability but there is still a few problems. Sauber have good sponsors that have been faithful, Red Bull, Petronas, that sort. Besides, Sauber are one of the faster cars in a straight line this year.
