Renault team boss Flavio Briatore has told Italian newspaper Gazetta dello Sport that he had to fire Jarno Trulli out of respect to the rest of the team.

The Italian said: "At Renault everyone gives a hundred percent, and if a driver shows up lazy, he won't have anything to do with us anymore."

Trulli, who won the team's only Grand Prix so far this year in Monaco, was replaced for the last three races of the year by Jazques Villeneuve after a lacklustre performance at Monza

"I don't know what was on Jarno's mind," Briatore continued, "but I only looked at his performances, and they were not satisfactory anymore, hence off he went."

Former World Champion Villeneuve finished 11th for Renault in the Chinese Grand Prix, on his return to Formula 1.

8) It won't happen, but I'd love to see Jarno score ahead of JV at Japan and knock the Renaults out of the race for 2nd in WCC. :wink: :wink:

Why, Trulli just blames everyone at reno for his problems..... not a likable thing to do. Why would they sabotage their tchances at getting 2nd just to annoy him?

he was doing poorly and deserved to be sent on his way.

Flavio made the right call surely. Look how much he was being out done by alonso, compared to the first half of the season.
