Classic F1 Moments That Make You Go Wtf?

Recommended Posts

One that springs to mind is the incredible qualifying session for the 97 European Gp at Jerez. With Michael Schumacher leading the championship by one point, Villeneuve,Schumacher and then Frentzen all set the exact time in qualifying while fighting for pole. The first place went to Villeneuve as he was the first to post that time, followed by Schumi then Frentzen. Will we ever see anything like this agian? Makes me wonder.

I wasn't watching back in '97 but since '98 there have been several WTF moments.

Like the man who decided to walk out onto the circuit during the race (Hockenheim 2000).

Luciano Burti's crash into the barriers at Spa, the car was so deep in the barrier I felt sure he must be either dead or horribly injured (he wasn't).

The farce of Indy 2005.

Watching Yuji Ide try and be an f1 driver.

The opening lap of Spa '98.

Ralf Schumacher taking off into the sky at Melbourne '02.

The sheer balls of Webber overtaking Alonso through Eau Rouge a couple of years ago.

All these moments had me thinking WTF!

Ahh yes all of these I remember, lol @ Ide comment, Indy 2005 what a shocker, that's Bernie for you though, rather a 5 car race than a temporary chicane on the straight to aid the Michelin runners. Bernies attitude was if they can't make a tyre that lasts the sweeping bends, they don't race. But without cars or fans, how can they race? I remember some disgruntled U.S fans, f1 went back to the USA to widen is audience, don't think it worked to well that day.
