ALONSO FEELS 'NO PRESSURE'

Fernando Alonso says he feels no extra pressure as the runaway championship leader.

The Renault star, speaking in the pre-event press conference for the Bahrain Grand Prix, suggested that it was too early in the season to be making predictions and that his early successes are no big deal.

Even though his nation's media has gone into a frenzy following the Spaniard's victory in Malaysia.

"Leading the championship is not really a problem," he said.

"Maybe I would feel pressure if we were in the last two races and I was leading the championship but now is not the real picture."

Alonso's parents' house in Oviedo was mobbed by fans after his Sepang win.

The 23-year-old driver, bidding to become the youngest ever F1 world champion, believes this was a step over the line and criticised the Spanish press for over-hyping the situation.

"Really in Spain it went too far...all the people, especially journalists, and this is a problem," said Alonso.

"It is not what I want, for them to be in front of my house waiting for a picture, and if they think they have to do that it is their problem.

"They were in front of my parents' house and I was not there

Alonso is very impressive, I have no doubt that given the right car, he can be World Champion.
