Heidfeld Future Looking Bright

Recommended Posts

SOURCE: F1RACING.NET

Although he nearly slipped into the F1 shadow not two years ago, 'Quick Nick' Heidfeld's future now looks assured. With the little German's maiden pole and second successive podium, the Nurburgring paddock suggested that Nick - who could easily have ended a test driver in 2005 - will front BMW's F1 effort for the foreseeable future, whether at Williams or Sauber.

Someone even alluded to him as a Ferrari man of the future. ''If we keep moving in the right direction,'' said the 28-year-old, ''I think I will soon have my first career win.''

Would-be Sauber principal, BMW motor sport director Mario Theissen, meanwhile - a staunch Heidfeld supporter - refused to reveal details of Tuesday's rumoured BMW board meeting.

''It is an internal discussion,'' said the German, ''(so) I can't tell you all the things that are on the agenda.''
