I have recently come across a great site that allows you to upload F1 photos taken by yourself, it's well worth a look, i have a few photos on the site but there are some great oldies such as Senna and Mansell on there. Find these great pictures at www.f1-photos.net

Hopefully someone with some older photos uploads some. Because this site is great if you want mid 70's onwards, but pretty sparce before then. But if you want some Senna/Prost/Mansell/D Hill/Schumacher etc, I recommend it also.

Yea dont make this your only post! I have heard of that site before, and I think my dad has submitted a few good pics from Indy2000 and Canada2001 when we went to see firsthand racing... Will have to check later.

It was a Finnish site that went down earlier this year due to a lack of money to pay the server bills. I will see if my dad has the pics saved anywhere.

My father used to be a pro protographer, and at one local downill race he hid in a manhole that was off the racing line but for a time the cars were heading stright for him. He just popped his head out to take a photo. The event security tryed to remove him between a couple of runs, but the compeditiors stopped them, saying "We all know he it there and in fact he is the safest on all the press photograghers here". He also ended up with the best pictures too.

We have always called dad crazy. But he was commited to his photography, just a pity there was no F1 in NZ for him to photograph.

There has never been an F1 race in NZ has there? Just wondering, there have been so many Australian GPs..

No there has never been a New Zealand F1 race, not even a non-championship race. Although in the 60's Drivers like Brabham, Clark, the 2 Hills, and others came down to our end of the world for the Pacific Series during the Nth Hem Winter, Our Summer. This was races in NZ and Australia. Apparently the drivers induled in (as well as racing) other very public activities including crecket matchers, water skiing etc. Unfortunatly this was long before my time.

That would have been nice to see! There are a lot of places in the world that should have a race, unfortunately there can only be that illusive 17 or 18 races.. Places like Russia, a country in Scandinavia (bring back Anderstorp in Sweden?), China, Argentina, South Africa, and countries in the Turkey region.

That would be possible in the scenario I described about circuit contracts in Australian GP topic, but like I said there it would never happen.

Bernie 'Scrooge McDuck' Ecclestone, it is a great pity for the fans though. The more circuits the better, yet I agree too many races in a season would be overkill.

Well I say 18 or 19 is still OK, with 20 the absolute limit. Any more and there'd have to be a race every week, 20 is already 6 weeks more than what there is currently meaning the season would end in early December, late November...

Which I feel is a bit too late, I think at most 19 start the season 2 weeks earlier and finish 2 weeks later. But I think 17 or 18 is best. However keeping it 17 would mean than there is not a feeling anywhere that the quantity is creaping up and up.

I would agree that 19 is about my ideal limit. Makes that long summer break just a bit shorter but also doesn't lead to complete overkill as you guys allready said. I would love to see a race over this side of the world but unfortunately its never going to happen. Money talks in Bernies world and thats all there is to it.... <_

Kyalami is also not FIA standard anymore I believe and is very short now. I think the USGP should move to Long Beach for the season opener and make it run in consecutive weekends with CART. Then from there head over to Japan and Australia and keep going west, then for the final race of the season finish in Canada. But its all Bernie's choice...

Which part of the circuit did they hack off, it had already been heavily alterted from a fast circuit to a Micky Mouse track. Bring back the pre 1987 version.

The last race on the older layout was 1985 but the circuit begun development in 1987.

Yip sure can. Kyalami hasn't had any changes made to it yet but there were rumours a while back about them wanting to sell off a part of the circuit to make way for more office block developments. They were then going to shorten the track quite drastically. Fortunately nothing much seems to have come of that lately which is great news. Also Jens, Kyalami is still rated as an "A" grade circuit by the FIA meaning they are eligible to host F1 races. They had to keep there rating up I think mainly because they host a round of the World Superbike championship there every year.

Doesn't really matter to me though, because theres absolutely no way that Kyalami could ever afford to hold an F1 race though. Last time I heard (which is about a year ago I think) it was going to cost in the region of R350 million (US$35mil) just to get Bernie's attention....
