Arrows to be bought by Audi?

Recommended Posts

The newest report is that Arrows may be purchased by Audi, as the manufacturer will not be competing the Le Mans series next year. This comes quite out of nowhere, but I hope it happens!!

I still do not expect them, Arrows/Audi/VW..., to be on the grid in 2003. IMO they would be wise to take a year off, pay the penalty fee(this is bound to be less than the new-entrant bond), and 'regroup'.

I think that the plans are still to be back for 2003. I think with the Arrows base it wont be too bad coming next year, and Audi does have a lot of people at hand who could do well designing an F1 chassis.

My one question is, are Audi and Volkswagen not connected? Does VW not own Audi, or do I remember incorrectly? Where would this leave Sauber, weren't they supposed to score a works deal from VW?

i think Arrows sould get right to racing...and thats the best way to get out of debts...if they can pull off a couple of points and get that media coverage bonus!!!!

Audi and VW are the same as Toyota and Lexus.....so if toyota has their own racing team they can that doest mean they are a part of Lexus for that league........but Toyota may support to Lexus.

yea..Audi racing is different than VW unit, so it depends what they sign it as!!!! if they sign VW then they would have a WV emblemed equipment....but i am positive that they want AUDI as the supplier, because they need more marketing on Audi than VW!!!!

Audi is the mure luxurious car, and does have a good motorsport history so F1 would be the logical solution for them. VW meanwhile could also raise their image from the economical family car to the stylish powerful German car status that Mercedes and BMW have :D

Also using the VW brand they wouldn't suffer so much from Jaguar syndrome if the performance didn't show itself for a while (or at all).

What am I hearing....why is the VW being compared to the BMW and Mercedes?????? have people gone crazy....lol :D

anyway more f1 update on the Arrows situation!!!!

LONDON (espnstar.com) - Cash-strapped Arrows has got until next Friday to lodge its entry for the 2003 Formula One World Championship or be struck off the F1 list.

The Leafield-based team failed to compete in the final five races of last season because of its financial problems and must now pay the entry fee of approximately $310,000 by November 15.

otherwise only 10 teams for next year...i want the Arrows to make it...with hopefully a decent aerodynamics package...and maybe Audi engines...they could challenge the Renault??? thats an imagination!! it may come true? :D

Arrows doest need a miracle...they need magic...it sould be kind of bad to have only 20 cars for the season!!!!

but on the positive side of the stream:

if Arrows do make it (Audi-Arrows) and with a semily decent aerodynamics package....they could be a threat... :D

Reports are streaming out of lots of places, just talked with a guy that said a firm calling themselves German Grand Prix Racing has taken over control of Arrows. Nothing is confirmed, but sources so wide and apart saying the same thing is always fishy...

We will find out (for 2003 at least) for sure if these reports are vaild shortly after the end of the week, if not before. The deadline coming up on Friday 15th Nov, is a no exception or exemption deadline, so I am lead to believe.

Friday is the deadline, and there is no way around it. If Arrows dont make it, they will not race. While I still dont think that they will make it, the reports about German Grand Prix Racing are getting stronger and stronger so I may be proved wrong.

i heard about the german invester.....but i that was a bad dicision in my view.....either they should have gotten with audi...or they should have rested one year and try to get better resources!!!!

because right now...if they use the old arrows chasis they will get a good straight line speed....but need a compatible engine!!!!! that would help to do so..... :P

The investor thing has been confirmed as a German organisation, believed to be a front for an Arab investement group, and the share value is said to be "more then 51%". Walkingshaw still holds some shares, and has been asked to remain as team principal. All other derails are hush-hush for now though. In what I read, no comment, either way, was made about their involvement in the 2003 F1 season.

Arab invester???? sounds reasonable as they do have all the money in the world..... :D

the only positive side may be they can actually race all 16 races this year! :D:P:lol:

It'll be good i think, but what does worry me is that with all these manufacturers in the series what happens if they do decide to set up their own series, they could then quite easily kill off Formula One if they all suddenly pulled out.
