Senna

Interesting Statistic About The 2005 Season.

Recommended Posts

As the resident F1 statistician I thought I should mention this:

Kimi got 10 fastest laps in the 2005 season* which puts him joint first in the all-time fastest laps in a season category with Michael Schumacher who got 10 fastest laps the season before (2004).

* Malaysian GP

Canadian GP

French GP

British GP

German GP

Hungarian GP

Italian GP

Brazilian GP

Japanese GP

Chinese GP

A poor consolation prize I know, but Kimi evidently did very well

Odd that this is in the cafe, but it does prove he is a very fast driver. Which Im sure we all already agreed.

To KR :clap3:

Yes, we heard an awful lot about Fernando being a record breaker this year because of his great success at such a young age (although Jenson Button is the youngest ever driver to score a world championship point), its important to point out that Kimi also has an absolute, all-time F1 record, even if he does share it with Michael Schumacher.

Michael achieved that record with the fastest car, i suspect Kimi did too. That's not to disregard the achievement, just to give it some perspective.

Fastest 1-lap (speed) is a way LESS important, than

fastest average speed (300km) that is always goes to the GP Winner =)

So the main difference between 2004 and 2005:

04 - MS was best in (almost) all categories (ever)

05 - KR - just (poor) FL record, but

FA a very good (the best in 05) average speed - and the DrCh title =)

No one is trying to suggest otherwise. However, Kimi did not have the fastest car for the whole season but for the majority of it, yes.

Right on Senna!

On a side note...

I guess you can't please everyone... Why cant we just applaud the guy for achieving such a great feat? Is that too much to ask?

He's young and has so much promise ahead of him... he'll have far more opportunities to break records... let's all just wait and see!

Bravo KR!!!
