well looks like Bahrain is a certainty for 2004 and maybe Turkey for 2005 !!

Does this mean Iraq in 2006!! or maybe Finland? or Greenland ? How many races can be held in one year?

There was talk of a Finnish Grand Prix some years back, but the funding and plan for a track never went through.. I don't really know the current situation, I think there is some plan for it still or something but no idea.

As for Istanbul, it will once again be a Tilke-track, so we already know what to expect

It would be great to see 20 F1 cars racing around on Ice tyres (on ice of course).

I heard the is a rule where the f1's can only race at tracks that have 2 vowels or something......i thought it was a joke but it sounded serious...anyone know if it is true?

Talk, but it won't happen. There are already so many countries vying for the GP, and India is not there right now. I heard one single rumour about it, and that is enough for me to come to the conclusion that it won't happen.

The new ones that are coming are China, Bahrain (both confirmed) and Turkey (almost confirmed), and the most likely other ones are Russia and the return of Canada.

Another one I heard is Indonesia, but that one will not happen, for the same reason Jens gave for India.

Bluntly said, there is a lot of stuff that is said and rumoured, but it probably isn't trustworthy until the story of Ecclestone and/or Hermann Tilke visiting the country in question.

For example, the Finnish GP was rumoured a few years back, and Ecclestone even visited the country and prospective organisers. It was thought to happen, but never got funding.

On the flip side, a GP was also rumoured for Estonia. Never heard a thing of it since. No visits.

I've heard of the return of Anderstorp in Sweden, and a second USGP as well. The second USGP is more likely, IMO.

Honestly - I can't see there being more than about 18, tops 19 races in a season. As it is the Concorde agreement only allows for no more than 17 races in a season so I think all the teams would first have approve an extended schedule before Bernie could sign any more agreements. I also think that the new tracks will more than likely rather come at the expense of some of the European tracks (I.e. Italy will lose either Imola or Monza, Geramy will lose either Hockenheim or Nurburgring etc..) than adding to an allready busy schedule.

There aren't too many years left in the Concorde Agreement though, so let us remember that some of these tracks could enter afterwards. Anyway, I honestly think that even 18 races will be difficult to get, as many team bosses have already said that 17 is the max. they will take

From what I remember it was hard enough to get them to agree to 17 every year, even though in 1977 and 1995 there had already been 'one off' 17 race seasons.

Maybe they could insert 3 non championship races in November, January and Feburary as a part of the testing scedule. lol

Yeah!! Awesome, a (cheap) chance to see the F1 stars and cars in action in NZ in the summer. Jens they would be able to maybe race on Manfield, (I know you like the layout). Oh I wish!!!!!

Yeah or maybe the old LONGFORD track in northern Tasmania home of F1 many many years back, where they used haybales to block of parts of the road to show the drivers where the track went
