Can Montoya predict the future?

Recommended Posts

:?: I would like to understand if Montoya can predict the future,as he said in Spain that for 2004 he wants to remain in Williams because they will be better then Mclaren, but in 2005 he wants to move to McLaren because McLaren will be better then Williams. How is this possible? He also said that money is not the reason for him leaving Williams, who is he kidding?

You've got a point there Marina, but I feel money was just one of the reasons Monty devided to leave Williams. I feel it revolved around the fact that a.) Ralf was getting paid more than him, which is a joke considering Ralf has done bugger all in his career, whilst JPM is a proven winner and worthy challenger to M$ b.) BMW renewing their contract with Williams meant to Monty that Ralf would be favoured over him, which I understand as I feel that if Ralf wasn't German, he would have been booted out of the team ages ago, but BMW want a German in the car and since they can't get M$, little brother will do, and c.) at the French GP, JPM absolutely skitzed at his team cos he felt they stuffed his race strategy in favour of RS. That was the final straw for him, so he decided to leave. Money is usually the reason why drivers leave teams, but I honestly feel this move is about more than money.

JPM got it wrong,

McLaren will win WCC,Kimi WDC and David Runner-up

Maybe JPM just wanted to try McLaren before he goes to Ferrari 2006 :D

I think Montoya could know what he's talking about, but Ron Dennis tried to get him from Frank Williams for 2004 and JPM was ready to go. Therefore, I think he wanted to get away from the team not only due to money, but indeed also because of disagreements with Williams. It's not too hard to see, but I agree that he also may just want a change - maybe it's boring at Williams :?:

do you think if it turns out the Ralf leaves Williams in 2005 that Juan might regret his decision to leave the team?

I don't think JPM will let his feeling on that one slip, until at least after retirement, by then he will have the added benefit of hindsight.

:? The money was certainly a reason, but I think Montoya is very wrong when he says that in 2005 McLaren will be better then Williams, and that is why he is moving. Because today in Jerez he was asked what if Williams wins 2004, and he replies S.... happens.

if the press is to be believed, it was more the money that Ralf was earning, more so that what Juan was earning as a reason to leave and also the fact that Juan felt Williams favoured Ralf more on the track despite the fact that Juan outshone him for most of the season.
