France has just been 100% confirmed for the 2004 season which means for the first time ever there will be 18 races.

I think it's just the right amount, but no more should be added. I think 18 is the limit, and 19 would be the extreme limit. Twenty races would be over the top, and meanwhile 17 is also just right, with room for one more to 18. Sixteen, as in 2003, was too little :D

If you understood all that, you should give yourself a cookie.

the more the merrier for me   :D

but you have to remember the drivers and team members have a life and families etc......they don't have much time to see them during the season....so they need a nice break whenever possible to see them and so on.

Everyone involved in F1 is in constant work throughout the season and being at home is a rare treat. To work in the best series in the world has its price, and during the offseason the workload is still huge! It honestly is amazing how much the guys go through in F1, and while the break the drivers get from the end of the season to the start of testing is lengthy when compared, it is fully deserved and needed - and even then they're training and the occasional PR scram as well.

:D I am so glad France has been confirmed. I am a crazy fan of F1 for the past 30 years, so of course I would prefer more races, I know the drivers have families, but after all they are paid a lot of money to perform and anyway they have 4 months of holidays or a little less and that is more then enough. If you see other sports they dont even have 1 month. I know at the other sports they play the whole year in their country, so it is easy on the families, but in the States they have to travel all over the 50 states to play and they dont have 4 months holiday.

So as a lot of the F1 drivers get paid a lot of money (and they deserve it) they should have more races.

On one hand the fewer races the easier on the (already) pressure cooker environment of the F1 team. On the other the more 'real' less disputable the outcome of the championships is. I would like similar to what Jens said but plus one 18 with the chance of 19. 16 was way to little.
