Michelin - doesnt want to supply any more teams.

Recommended Posts

:x :x :x Here is something that I read and do not understand.

Michelin has said that they already supply tires to 6 teams therefore they do not want to supply tires to any more teams. They say that it will be to their disadvantage. How can this be? The more cars you have with your tires the better chances you have to win, isnt that so?

Their stance is understandable as it was probably be beyond their budget to supply anymore teams. That's the only reason I can think of atm.

also the pressure of producing the tyres, supplying engineers to the teams and transporting tyres to the races, gathering and evaluating data etc.

Logistically any more than 6 teams must be a nightmare.

Thay do have 3 of the top 4 teams running their tyres already. They are not going to sign Ferrari, not without upsetting Bridgestone (they won't mind that) Williams, Renault and McLaren as well as others. Jordan, Sauber and Minardi do not really have a chance of winning. So no keeping in mind the other problems already stated I can understand why they do not want a seventh team.

They cannot be forced to either unless another team or two join, or Bridgestone leave the sport.
