Giorgio Pantano - Jordan driver?

Apparently Jordan is considering Giorgio Pantano an italian driver of 25 years.

In 2000 - F3 Germany - champion

In 2002 - F3 Germany - vice champion

In 2003 - F3 Germany - placed 3rd

I would prefer to see a F1 driver take this last seat, but I suppose they know what they are doing.

Satoshi Motoyama from japan is also a driver they are looking into.

I think Eddie Jordan might be persuaded by BH to get a British driver and all this speculation over spare seats is just his way of getting some publicity – that’s why its gone on for so long.

I think the only reason it has gone on so long is that EJ is trying to squeeze every last cent out of the drivers sponsors. :?

The trip to Australia, Malaysia and Bahrain will use all the money EJ has (or thinks he has)

Pantano brings sponsorship, but not as much as B&H would bring with a British driver. With the confidence Pantano is showing, it seems that he could sign the deal. If Jordan can even afford to look at a semi-experienced youngster with less money, then it can only be a good sign. Unless EJ has once again switched his priorities..

Pantano has signed with Jordan. I dont understand it , Jos was offering 10million$ and no deal. Now Pantano comes along with 5 million$ and its a go.

I believe that EJ played so hard with Jos and Trust to try to get more money out of them and deleyad his decision trying to secure higher money from other drivers that they walked away from the table.

EJ will regret it.

I think there was a disagreement over the space that would be available to Jos’ sponsors. Jos and his sponsors were unhappy that too little space was being offered for the price they were willing to pay for the drive. This view is expressed on a website and seems to me to be quite plausible.
