Pre-practice/ Pre-race Car Prep?

I've been into the technical aspects of racing for a long time and never have found out what race teams do for pre-race prep of the cars. My experience with turbo and high-performance naturally aspirated cars is that mechanical parts must be brought up to operational temperatures before being driven in anger. My question is, what do the teams do to get the cars prepped before they go out onto the grid or the track?
