Marc Gene has been given another chance to shine in the injured Ralf Schumacher's vacant BMW-Williams race c##Kpit as F1 goes to Silverstone.

A statement said the Spaniard drove 'solidly' at Magny-Cours last week.

''I'll be using the experience to help me improve my performance,'' said the team's official reserve driver, who's lapped thousands of times on the UK track.

Technical director Sam Michael said Gene, 29, did a 'good job' in France with a race lap actually a 'tenth faster' than regular driver Juan Pablo Montoya's.

The Australian added: ''We're sure he'll be fired up to score points.''

Williams' FW26 has some more 'aero and mechanical updates' for the British GP as the team based down the road marks 25 years since Clay Regazzoni won in '79.

* Montoya said the team 'must get it right' at Silverstone. ''I'm pleased Marc is racing,'' said the Colombian. ''I will do whatever I can to help him.''

I heard Pizzonia will get the drive for Germany and Webber will drive from Hungary onwards. However Webber in a press conference claimed that he knows everything and the media knows nothing about his drive for next year. The cynic in me thinks Webber will drop a bomb and claim he'll either go to Toyota or stay with Jag, as the media say it's Williams for MW, and if they know nothing, then.....however the cynic doesn't win this time and Im sure Webber will be at Williams for next year at least and maybe this year, and Fisi will join him, I've given up hope on Jacques. I really really hope Im wrong, but my gut feeling says it's all over.

i nreally dont think that thay will happen because Webber has said that "IM 27 now not 22 and i need a team that can give me results"(well it was somthing like that). and well if he was to join Toyota he will have to wate of take a big risk. With Jag the CEO TOny somthing has said to Webber every thing that there planing in a bid to keep him there so the is a chance of Webber staying a Jag but the way that FW and SM have been talking about webber in the press then there has to be somthing going on between the two. and also i think it will be Hindfeld and Webber in at Williams next year.
