Webber to Williams

Recommended Posts

I'm just wondering who is going to partner Webber at Williams next year.In my opinion Webber-Fisichella would have made a strong line up, but it looks like business has decided otherwise...... So it leaves just a couple of names. I don't think Heidfeld deserves especially the seat but surely he would make a good job. JV is a very good idea even if I'm not particularly one of his fans, Webber-Villeneuve sonds quite exciting. If he can race at the Hungaroring Pizzonia needs nothing short of a stunning performance if he intends securing the second seat. So let's go for MW-JV next year as a prime choice and MW-AP for second choice and forget about Heidfeld.

I feel extremely confident that Mark Weber / Frank Williams will be a formidable team as was F.W and Alan Jones.. One simularity is that both drivers are Aussie and the Brits love Aussies :D:D:D

Villeneuve is a crap and Heidfeld will drive for williams.

The only things you post here is to say BS like that, prove it!!!!! :x Prove Nick is better than Jacques. Anyways if Nick does get the drive, it'll because of his nationality, same as the engine manufacturer, would it be a coincidence??, unlikely, us JV fans got burned last year because of a similar thing, it would be a b!tch if it happened again, that's for sure!!

i think there is only two drivers left that williams would even think about to be honest.

JV and Nick Hiedfeld

personally i'd like nick kos i've always though he was underrated. but i wouldn't be dissapointed if JV was there either.

yea i think Nick should have a better drive than Jordan. maybe somthing like Jag or Sauber he will only drive at Williams if hes lucky. but yes hes is a huge underrated driver.

gp2004.com reckon JV to Williams ain't gonna happen. They say sponsors don't like him, and more important, Webber doesn't either. They say Webber is like Schumi in many ways, looks like he's following M$' lead of having the team hire a dud in the second car. MW has never had a decent teammate and would finally get to prove the doubters wrong by having a strong teammate in a strong team, let's cut the bull$hit, the only strong driver left is Jacques now that Fisi, the other star driver in the running is at Renault. If he is indeed vetoing a JV move to Williams.. F1, Williams, and Mark are nothing but a sad, pathetic joke. That's if this is true of course.

just to add to that, its reported Sam Michael pushed hard for this as he is a long time friend of Webber's family, talk about it's who you know not what you know   before you all hurl abuse at me, Im only joking!!!

unless sam michalel manages to change the whol racing philosophy at williams, then this is bs. they will always hire whom they feel are the 2 best available drivers.

yeah 1) williams wouldn't spring for purposley hiring a dud driver.

2) i don't think webber would either.

Webber mentioned before he had wanted a better driver in the 2nd car while at Jaguar ...it makes sense too ,as that 2nd driver will keep the Team higher up the WCC standings ,eventually getting the Team more sponsership dollars down the road.

Is Nick Heidfield better than Pizzonia ? ...maybe ,better than Villeneuve I highly doubt it. I question the notion that BMW are really needing a German driver at all. Heidfield being touted as a marketable German would not convince me if I were German.

Williams have made small errors with putting Gene/Pizzonia in for 3 races and only come out from their efforts a whopping 2 pts. They have not lost their downgraded 4th in the WCC ...but they could lose it to McLaren by the end of the season should they continue with these drivers.

Now next year though McLaren with Kimi + JPM are going to be a strong pairing, should Williams take less than that I am writing them off to finishing below McLaren next year and possibly BAR or Renault . They might not get back to challenge for the top three in the WCC for a couple of years with a weak pairing.

Webber will be a main promo man at Williams, I can not see Heidfield making much of a dent in the impression department and maybe thats why he is where he is at Jordan on low pay.

Should Williams/BMW group decide on Jacques Villeneuve as the second driver they will no doubt have a strong pairing to battle the other top Teams , it will be great to see the results .

I think Williams are ony allowed to make one more driver change this year, so if they do Ralf will not be allowed to finish the season. So IMO we are stuck with Jungle boy. And unfortunatly I agree with that decision, because whilst I feel there are better choises than AP, the only better (and avaliable) short term choice than RS, is JV. So unless JV is put in AP should stay

put JV in for the rest of the season to get him ready for 05

seriously i would love heidfeld there, i really think he is a good driver, but hes never had the car to impress. hes been at prost, sauber and jordan hardly teams to impress with at the time.

i doon't think he is of webber standard, but a very solid driver.

Williams allowed only one more driver change ? Even due to injury (again) ?

Catch 22 for Williams ....Ralf going to risk his life at a higher rate then normal to get back in early? Ralf should abide his time wisely and complete a good solid recovery even if he needs to take a non-pay period to not risk next years effort.

Williams is going to look as Bad as BAR and Richards does now with Sato's results should they stick with Pizzonia. Sato will be the challenge to get by for Pizzonia ... cause I believe that both McLaren drivers will more likely be ahead of these two claudes for the remainder of this season.

5th in the WCC for Williams looms very large.

I read on pitpass that Williams can't bring in any more drivers. They can bring Ralf back, but no new drivers, so if they're right, then we won't see Webber, Villeneuve or anyone in a Williams racing this year, as for my speculation on Webber asking for a dud teammate, someone on another forum said the Spanish press were reporting this as part of Webber's negotiations, some 3 weeks ago, I decided to keep quiet about it as i really didn't believe it, but I guess when I read the article I posted..well, I put two and two together, but I really doubt it would be true, but then again.....

I saw an interview with Murray Walker, speaking about Williams and his drivers and Murray stated that in his opinion Mark Webber, because of his nature (similar to Allan Jones in Murray's words) will do wonders to Williams.

Time will tell I guess bit I sure hope Murray is right !! Has Murray ever got anything WRONG :D

Here are some of my favourite Murray Quotes:

"With half the race gone, there is half the race still to go"

"It's raining and the track is wet"

"And this is the third placed car about to lap the second placed car"

"Do my eyes deceive me, or is Senna's Lotus sounding rough ?"

"Anything happens in Grand Prix racing and it usually does"

"Alboreto has dropped back up to fifth place"

"I can't imagine what kind of problem Senna has. I imagine it must be some sort of grip problem"

"He is shedding buckets of adrenalin in that car"
