The first day of testing at Jerez has been interrupted by big accidents for Luca Badoer and Jarno Trulli.

Badoer was thankfully able to clamber out of his Ferrari unaided after plunging headlong into the barriers following a suspected brake failure.

However, he was taken to the circuit medical centre after complaining of back pains.

Trulli, who is driving a Toyota for only the second time, suffered a tyre failure. His car suffered only minor damage and he was able to resume testing in the afternoon.

A number of top drivers have decided to stay out in the Far East between the Chinese and Japanese Grands Prix meaning that a host of unfamiliar names are being pressed into testing action.

Williams have called upon Monegasque Olivier Beretta after Antonio Pizzonia sprained his ankle in a hotel fall while Renault will use Nissan World Series leader and ITV-F1 columnist Heikki Kovalainen.

Hope Rubens doesn't have a problem, first Michael, then Luca. And the F-399 had a brake problem when MS had his accident, hopefully the problem never happens again.

brake problem, i think that would have to be the scariest of them all.

sure tyre blows and suspension failures are bad, well all failures are bad, but imaging braking for a tight hairpin after a long straight and realising that the brake pedal is like a bucket of sand..

i think that a suspension failure is a lot worse that a brake failure because there are ways to stop the car with a brake failure (ie. down shift so that your in first gear) but when the suspension is broken then your just in for the ride.

but when your got a suspension failure you still have brakes! so the other 3 tyres braking slow you down more, then just downshifting a few times willl anyday.

the best thing i cna think of doing when a brake failure occurs is trying to spin the car....sliding sideways etc slows you down....unless your going to hit the kitty litter....that might flip you over...or it might slow you down alot....your call... :wink:

maybe sliding in the gravel can slow you down more, Irvine when his wing came off in 2000 at the Nurburgring...

yea hitting the kitty litter side ways is very very bad just look that the V8 in Australia
