Who Get's To Host A Race?

Recommended Posts

Here's a good idea for the current F1 problem of which country/venue get's to host a race. Why don't they follow the Tour de France system where each year it is slightly different. It would be cool. One year they goto France, the next to another circuit and so on. I for one would love to see the end of circuits like Monaco where overtaking is next to impossible. The bigger venues with more money can secure their slot on the caldendar, while the other ones could go into partnerships or something. One year, Silverstone, the next France and back and forth.

Just an idea as it would be cool to actually see them goto more tracks than they do. Heck it could even turn in to something like when the countries put in their bid for the Olympics.

I hate that suggestion. Putting the venues on some kind of a seasonal rota could potentially ensure a sense of equality but would also mean that the calendar accommodates poor venues every once in a while. Surely we want to have the best races on the calendar, irrespective of where they are, and not be forced to keep certain venues in the interest of fairness.

I agree with Senna, F1 could never work that way

Well, i would have to say it could, but only if it were up to three tracks per year, like one year these three tracks are on, the next year these three, and so on in a three year cycle. Heck, we have many tracks here in America and many more in other parts that are almost certain that they are almost ready for F1.

I guess I didn't explain myself as clearly as I'd hoped. AutoRacer5, you're right, that's what I was trying to say. For the venues that are being dropped simply because Bernie can get more money elsewhere this would get a good solution.

Of course this wouldn't work for every single race. But for 2-3 it would be great. Also we would know about it at least 2 years ahead of time.

It would be done by regions too so the travelling is almost the same. Let's say we lose both the British and French GP's. Could very well happen. This would be a perfect example of how it would work great. They goto Silvertone one year and Magny Cours the next.

Come on Mexico? Bahrain? We need to keep these classic tracks on the calendar. Obviously they can't do 25 races a year.

All of the european races can be done back to back to back. Nascar does 36 races in 40 weeks, the united states is almost as big as mainland europe.

I'm well aware of Mexico's history in F1. But we are at a completely new location with a brand new track, so all history is put aside. It might be in Mexico but nothing is remotely similar to previous times. The comparison to Bahrain is accurate as the same track designer is building Mexico.

Not all history.......Although using you logic we could scrap that awful Magny Cours - No great history there.
