My Season Review

Recommended Posts

Notice: This is my opinion right now, post your own guides in full if you would like. This is a review, just for fun.

Ferrari: They Dominated. MS winning 13 races, RB winning 2, and coming from 15th to 2nd at Monza was great, as well as the 4-stopper. They truly blew everyone out of the water this year.

Williams: Their "Tusk Nose" did more hurt than good, so they scrapped it at Hungary. They had a bit of reliability issues and Steward issues along with crashes and driver swaps, but eventually raised the morale by winning at Brazil. Tough year, but great finish.

McLaren: Their reliability stunk. Worse than Ferrari in the Mid 1990s. They did manage to win at Spa, but after that, reliability still hampered them, though the MP4-19B was a great improvement. Very Tough Year.

Renault: Had a good start, won at Monaco, and after France, sort of stopped, especially with Trulli, and even Jacques Villeneuve was brought in. He scored a point or two I think, and Renault's starts were phoenominal, Alonso's at Indy, perhaps.

BAR: My pick for most improved, they did a tremendous job, even though they did not win any races. They had a bit of a squabble over the Torque device and Button, but they still managed to pull through to second in the Constructors Standings.

Sauber: The Swiss team had one of the fastest cars, and they showed it. Consistantly scoring in almost every GP, they are the mid-fielders. They didn't score as much as McLaren or Williams, but they were ahead of McLaren for a while. They are my pick to score their first F1 win ahead of BAR, because of JV and because of internal Friction at BAR.

Jaguar: Boy, these guys were lower mid field. They had the sold deal and they lost Mark Webber. They had a bad year but did manage to score a few points, almost all with Webber and beating Toyota for 7th in the Standings. They did get purchased by Red Bull, though.

Toyota: They had a dismal year with the huge budget they have. They had driver trouble, they fired Da Matta and Panis retired, so Zonta and Trulli finished out the year, neither driver started the year for the team. I'd call this year a rebuilding year for them.

Jordan: Completely bad, they scored only 5 points, getting lucky with Canada with the Williams and Toyota deal, and at Monaco. They had secured Toyota Engines in 05, but who knows where they can wind up.

Minardi: Very lucky to get one point at Indy due to incidents and Button's gearbox failing. They lucked out that one time, other than that, back of the pack, enough said.

pretty well wrapped up there, but a mistake in the Renault review, JV didn't score any points, although if there were 1 or 2 races to go, then points were a cert they way he was improving. And boy I hope you're right about Sauber being the next in line for a win behind BAR, be it JV or Massa, it will be good to see a new team win a race, although you all know who Id prefer the winner be!!

In-house politics and friction is where BAR fail. If Sauber can be a bit faster, they could win because of BAR's reliability. Maybe with JV they might get a win in 05.

You know I rather lost my liking for BAR after JV. I hope Sauber is atleast strong enough to fight for podiums becaause they were strong enough to fight for points this season. But no doubting that a win would be nice( with whom you all know :D )
