The Chili Bowl midget race is going on right now. Here's a twelve minute video from 1994's edition. Page and P.J. Jones, sons of Parnelli, battle hard with Andy Hillenburg (not the other Andy Hillenburg, mind you) for the win. You'll also hear names like "Tony Stewart" and "Kenny Irwin;" wonder what happened to those two. ;)

Because I can't post anything without excessive information, Page was badly injured in a midget accident soon after, which ended his promising career. P.J., a winner in IMSA's GTP sports cars (the Toyota Eagle Mk. III, in particular) and Indy Lights, would take Page's place in a NASCAR Craftsman Truck ride. In eight exhibition races, P.J. took two wins and four other podium finishes. Once the Truck Series officially launched in 1995, Jones struggled to repeat that success. A year later, he was in Dan Gurney's Eagle Toyota in CART (he had done the development work on the Toyota engine) after finishing second in the 1996 Chili Bowl. All the while, he was still racing sprints and midgets. His career would take him through tons of wrong place/wrong time situations in CART, NASCAR, IRL, and the American Le Mans Series. He recently won an off-road truck race (like a baby version of Dakar or Baja) in Nevada, and won his heat race for the 2013 Chili Bowl two nights ago. He's literally raced everything (and very little of it successfully ).

Cool video, thanks for posting that. Enjoyed it.

My contribution today - reminds you what a great year 2012 was for a lot of different forms of racing:

This will start with 15 laps to go (it's a 3/4-mile track, so it goes quickly). One of the greatest finishes to a NASCAR race ever, but not one you ever hear much about. The Cup race was rained out, so the Busch race that had been rained out the day prior got to air on NBC...three cars go for the win right down to the end...
