DC AIMING TO STAY AT RED BULL

(ITV)

David Coulthard, Britain's leading points scorer in Formula 1 this year, is in talks with Red Bull Racing to extend his contract into 2006.

According to a report in Autosport magazine the Scot is very happy at F1's newest team and has been impressed with its consistent level of performance this year.

"I'm absolutely thinking in terms of staying here," he said.

"We're five months on from the start of the relationship and five months from the end of the current contract.

"As long as I still have the desire and the talent and ability there's no reason to stop, and I will give my commitment to the team for as long as they continue to give it to me."

Coulthard missed out on a podium finish at the European Grand Prix last Sunday after receiving a penalty for speeding in the pits.

But the Scot believes that the team's potential is real and that mated to V8 Ferrari engines in 2006, it could be a real force.

"There is a real desire and commitment here," he said.

Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner indicated at the Nurburgring that he sees David Coulthard as one of the team's key assets.

"The way things are going at the moment there is no reason why we would want to change," he said.

"He has been doing an excellent job and he brings a stability and great experience to the team."

DC is good value. top driver STILL. i remember 98, when mclaren had a 'david coulthard self destruct button'. whenever coulthard lead a race, they blew his engine up.

argentina, schu hit DC. monaco, although mika was leading, DC was faster and looked like passing in pit stops. engine blew. leading at monza, engine failure, leading in france engine failure. melbourne, stupid on DC's part. i think canada was a similar story.

Indeed. DC has a performance based contract and is available for peanuts right now.
