The Australian Gp has been for years the race to open the season, now for 2006 because of the Commonwealth Games, the Australians might see a change and have their Gp at the very end of the season.

This will be quite a change for the Australian fans and organizers and noone likes to have the last race as it might be decided by then.

Although from 1986 till 1995 in Adelaide they had the last race of the season. In fact Australia has had 2 races in a row, the season closer in 1995 and the opener in 1996.

Bloody Commonwealth Games :evil: Nah seriously, it would have been crazy to have both at the same time. Coming from Melbourne I can see the sense in having the race sometime in September, October, towards the end of the season. The weather is mostly awful during the middle of the year and it would be crazy to hold it then what with the rain/poor weather we get at that time.

simple answer to that.. Hold it at BATHURST... anytime of the year weather never guaranteed :-)

that would be truly amazing! f1 cars at bathurst in changeable weather conditions!! brazil last year was a walk in the park compared to what bathuthusrt would be!

even better: the locals on the hill clashing with the paddock club!

damn commonwealth games!!! i love having the first race of the season and they had better not take that away. Its great to tget all the qualifying and race live for the first race.

and with the bathurst thing it'd be great but i can't see many cars finishing the race

OK 2006 BATHURST ,, what a GREAT place to hold and F1 meet, BUT those prima donna's that drive F1 wouldnt go there cause it would be too dangerous !!!! Is safe enough for V8 supercars and the 24 hr event for sports type cars.. just not up to F1 standards I guess.. Like what is the difference about going over the mountain surrounded but concrete walls to driving Monaco ?? answer .. Less Money

You could fit a lot more people into the Bathurst 'complex' than into Albert Park, so the teams could make more, Bernie make more and the promoters make more.
