Bahrain - Tent City

Recommended Posts

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

When I first read the title I had no idea what a laugh I was going to get over this.

Apparently the Bahrain organizers were planning to accomodate 2000 F1 fans in a massive desert Tent City. , given the shortage of hotel rooms in this tiny country.

Therefore they had planned to erect 5 separate Tent Camps in Sarhik each to host 300 people.

They also intended to appeal to local residents to allow F1 visitors into their homes.

Honestly is this a joke or is this serious? How much is Bahrain paying to host F1 over there? They havent even got hotels to receive the fans, where are the drivers going to stay and eat? In their trucks? Do they at least have a decent hospital there?

Please someone tell me that this is not happening?

Taku is probably right, but a tent is a tent. A proof that they were not prepared to a F1 race. But Nurburgring or Magny-Cours are the same.... no hotel rooms.

It is increadible but there are people going to Bahrain but sleeping in another country, flying twice a day to go to the track!!!!

Just because Bahrain doesn't feature a city the size of New York doesn't matter. The tent city is a cost-effective and ideal way to house fans, and when done correctly could be an idea worth copying.

It's not that funny, I think it quite a great idea. And why wouldn't Bahrain have a decent hospital? :?

Having spent many many days in Bahrain, during training it is far from a 3rd world place, it's just that it is a small island and the inhabitants are either locals or the USA navy, so not a great need for huge un-occupied hotels .. But hey Tents sounds great to me :-) remember the rules in this country, a man can have more then one wife :o

Adds a bit to the F1 circus LOL

I really believe that tents are for camping and not to accomodate F1 fans. Now that they have decided to give up that idea because they recogn they do not have enough time to organize any of this, now where are the fans going to stay? Are they all going to stay somewhere far from the track and have to fly in everyday? This is REDICULOUS.

If the country is not prepared for F1 then they dont get it. There have been other countries that do not have the right track (according to Fia) and the GP have been cancelled.

Why are they having this Gp in Bahrain?:roll::roll::roll:

Hey as I see it Tents are OK in Bahrain as it never rains so why bother with a roof just have great facilities inside, bars, beds, showers etc and well who cares... In Bahrain alcohol is Legal but just across a very short Causeway Bridge is Saudi Arabia where Alcohol is Illegal, so you can guess where most of the spectators will come from :D:D

I have seen some very funny sights at night from the top of the Gulf Hotel of cars weaving everywhere across that causeway to Saudi Arabia after a night out in Bahrain LOL some make it , others end up in the water :D
