Ayrton Senna's visit to Jim Clark's old school...

Senna made his pilgrimage to Loretto – he also insisted on stopping off at the Jim Clark Room in Duns, adding his own private Sao Paul address to the visitors' book – at the behest of Professor Syd Watkins, then medical chief for Formula 1. His step-son, Matt, was a pupil at Loretto at the time.

When news of his death in 1968 reached California, a radio broadcaster in Los Angeles invited drivers who were in mourning to switch on their lights. In an instant, the freeways of LA were radiant.

It's all good.

Meds, from what I can glean about Jimmy, he would never have retired. He might have quit Colin and F1 for about a week but then he'd be back in a car for the next race. Racing completed him and deep down he knew it. He was no farmer or shepherd; as much as he might have wished it to be so. He would never be happy back on the farm and he knew it. But the deaths of that era really sat heavily on him.

Well he won the Brazillian F-Vee (he he he Brazilian Formula Vee.....cheeky ) championship in 67 or 68, but obviously racing before that....and he now has a little 3-yo son, so I imagine he is still racing around after him

British GP 1970 was first race, and 1980 US GP was his final one racing for his older brothers team.

Started 144 races - plus non qualified for another 5

Won 14 races

Finished 96 races

Then he went off and had a successful CART career....
