i don't understand why flavio has such a hard-on for alonso when trulli has clearly been the better driver all year. i rate alonso higly as well, but he's made so many mistakes this year and it's undeniable that trulli has been the better driver. poor jarno, despite outperforming alonso in nearly all aspetcs so far this year he can't get his boss to back him.

that would be good news though. trulli-ralf or trulli-da matta would be a good combo for toyota, and if webber goes to williams then i'd love to see what montagny could do in f1. i like his style and from articles on pitpass he looks pretty cool too.

If JT leaves Renault (i hope no) i think Montagny replaces him (he is french and he looks very quick) Anyway no worries ... Webber will have a proper car next year (i put my money on Williams) and that will be very good for F1 and for all of us. If not it would be very unfair :cry:

I think Flavio has it in with the smaller teams...nipping Alonso from Minardi, maybe Webber from Jaguar. I think Webber would look good in a Renault. The car looks great, and I think it would be a great match with him in the Renault, considering that the team owner is his manager. As for Williams I'd still have to stick with JV and DC. No Webber involved.

I would not take Aloseone over Trulli as they are presently ,but Flavio to me is seeing future potential as important as he knows that the car is not there right now so it does not PAY to keep Trulli as he gets more long term cash deals from having a younger driver around longer.

The way it looks at Renault ,they need a French driver not an English one ...to mean NO WEBBER here folks, period. Jacques Villeneuve may be more favoured over a Frank M. as a replacement also.

This year JT is being more regular than FA, no doubt about that but FA is the kind of driver that can winning races when his car can

They have not had a French driver because there was not one available at that time. Panis was with BAR ,the Renault was not competative and other drivers would be from memory Sebastian B. and Frank M. but both were just starting.

Renault I still believe is requesting (insisting) on putting a French driver in one of the seats soon ....not that they (or ME!) am against a good driver of any "other source" than French being chosen ...its just I think Renault are pursuing a French type of driver.

Should Webber be IN or the present drivers stay on ...fine with me , Renault should do well from their selections.

Webber is a cert for Williams, the second seat is the one that is the one JV/DC/GF are after. As for Trulli, I read that Flav used Webber as a lever to get Jarno to lower his $$ demands and it must have worked, as he'll probably re-sign for the team. If they dump Jarno, it'll be Montagny who gets the drive. Renault are keen on a Frenchman in their car and he has impressed in testing. Id like to see him given the Renault drive, but it'll stay the same for next year. My tip is that Montagny and Briscoe will be at Minardi or one will be at Sauber replacing Massa next year, with both Renault and Toyota paying their wages, thus Minardi can spend on the car and not depend as much on pay drivers.

briscoe and montagny, now thats a line-up worth getting excited about.

sounds a lot more promising than baumgartner/bruni thast for sure.

but the fact is minardi not only needs free drivers, but cash on top too...

u could say that a promise of engines or b-team prospects is enticing, but stoddy has been burnt once by the big teams, so i don't think he'll be so trusting this time around..
