blackpebel 0 Report post Posted March 2 6 hours ago, lipstick79 said: U said that, last year (2022) Yeah, I look forward to close racing each year I guess. And to be honest we did get some good racing action in 2022, I'm hoping 2023 will be even better. Max was a class apart in 2022, no questions he will be the guy to beat this year as well. It will take some extraordinary effort from someone to beat him to the championship.

I respectfully DISAGREE Alonso WILL B the guy 2 beat in 2023 U R lookin at it WRONG - The guy 2 beat IS NOT the current champion - that IS expected. The midfield IS where the action IS. The REAL guy 2 beat- front runnin WORKS teams R EXPECTED 2 perform. It is NOT a challenge. The guy 2 beat COMES from midfield. HAS 2 show skill & PERFORM on track. Race-in race-out. That guy IS Alonso. NOT expected 2 win, but WILL perform.

Well I hope that's right, coz everyone would like to see a top class championship with Alonso in the mix,,, and to maybe even win it. The guy deserved a front row car, and he seems to be in one at the moment. At least Alonso is practically looking at the possibilities and not getting over confident about the hype that has been put out.. Alonso interview after P2 Also... Speculative Data After P2 We are still to get a clear picture of where the grid stands. I think after Azerbaijan GP we will should have a clear picture of the relative order of the grid. blackpebel 0 Report post Posted March 8 I've said this before last year, and I'm gonna say this again this year... I respect the power rankings that F1 has come up with... It gives a fair view of the heroism shown by drivers ... something that could be missed out due to the differences in the cars. Here is the update after the first race: https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article.power-rankings-who-starts-the-year-on-top-after-the-season-opening-bahrain.dMzYyD9VIDTUhz6GVdma1.html

blackpebel 0 Report post Posted March 23 I agree, His focus and his spatial awareness of everything happening around him in a race is commendable. Hill identifies trait that separates Alonso from other f1 drivers
lipstick79 0 Report post Posted April 30 Max HAS proven - he is NOT the BEST Max does NOT like Sprint Races - What happens, - Max loses Sprint Race In the SAME weekend Max LOSES in F1 2 his team mate - should ALWAYS beat UR team mate - at LEAST > Has the SAME equipment as U Max IS JUST - makin himself decline (N the BEST car) Good drivers WOULD do it the OTHER way - Improve IN the BEST car)

I saw a Max Verstappen in 2021, who took the fight to the mighty Mercedes and won the drivers championship. I've seen him become the youngest GP winner. I've seen him being replaced mid season by Redbull coz of his brilliance. And I've watched enough of Max Verstappen to know that he is not just good, he's one of the sports legends.. He's the benchmark for his team to compare his team mates.. He's a little too straight forward with his talk, but Ayrton too vehemently defended his actions.. Piotr 0 Report post Posted May 15 Regardless of who is the legend - Alonso is "the best" driver this year. He reminds me of Kubica in BMW Sauber - outdriving the car he is in and putting it where it does not belong. Mercedes is doing the same shady crap they are always doing - shady dealings with their drivers. Mercedes use the team strategy to manage their drivers - they did it with Bottas, and now they are doing it with Hamilton; essentially, they are telling Hamilton his days with the team are numbered and Russell will take over no matter what (they started this crap with Russell in Williams against Kubica). Russell does what he is told and came from Mercedes farm, so he will be rewarded with a #1 seat within the next 2-3 years. You will see more of Hamilton "losing" to Russell because of teams strategy, not skills, but "experts" will declare Hamilton simply forgot how to drive. That's why saying "you should win against your teammate" is meaningless, because it's the team who decides which teammate wins.

I stated it in the second sentence - "[...] outdriving the car he is in and putting it where it does not belong." Kubica has done it his whole career, and now Alonso is doing it. Aston Martin has no business being on podium. Look where Latiffi is - that's like the real measure of that car. Go and look at Kubica - Heidfeld. The same exact thing - except maybe GP Canada.
