I Have An Idea

Recommended Posts

I have an idea about how to slow the cars down and not force the teams to spend hundreds of millions to develop it.

Right now F1 cars use something like 3 litres of fuel per lap, why not make a regulation saying F1 cars can only use 2 litres per lap. This would make formula 1 cars slower and it wouldnt be as expensive as the 2005 regulation changes were to the teams.

Tell me what you think and make some other seggestions

I am more in favour of using hybrid technology, compulsarily. that would make F1 slower while needing cutting edge technology. a standrad 'control' battery and engine capacity limitation. implementation of hybrid technology upto the teams. makes it sort of eco friendly. reducfes performance. sets new engineering challenges.

Fuel consumption is not that easy to predict or measure, a rev limiter would be simpler to implement, but would kill the sport.

Hybrid systems would cost alot of money for the teams to develope, sure they can make standard ones but the teams will most certainly experiment and make superior one which cost millions.

I think the change to 2.8 (or is it 2.5?) V8 engines will have a big impact on speed. I think realy Mosley needs to wait and see what state F1 is in after 2006 before deciding on ways to slow the cars down, they might not need slowing down.

Thats fine if you want to think about it logically. personally i perfer my wild ideas which will never work.

It would certainly slow the cars down but it would cost a heck of a lot for the teams to design to a reg that would require radical rethinking of the very engine concept. Your idea is not a good one for this reason but I will suggest a vastly superior one for you to consider: introduce a control tyre with very low grip and incredible endurance. This would cost < 10M to implement and would increase safety dramatically.

maybe we should just give them all cardboard boxes with wheels on and tow them off the back of the safety car

The most recent suggestion I have heard to to implement a maximum downforce level instead of continually banning new aero developements and continuall restricting the cars. Therefore, money would not be wasted on continually adapting to new regulations and restrictions, and an more even field would result.

They'd still spend millions on new aero parts, to improve the drag created to downforce gained ratio.

Then it'll be like the old formula1 cars :o

Thats what the FIA said this afternoon on formula1.com check the news on www.formula1.com

Answer on 1st post (topic author)

Maybe limit fuel tank to a very low size - so teams will need too many pitstops with refuelings or try to reduce fuel consuming ?
