Williams On Bridgestone For 06

Recommended Posts

Surprisingly though, red bull are going to use the michelins. Michelin are apparently threatening a pull out in 07, minardi have been sold to a drinks company, the prospect of B teams when the concorde agreement has finished, a motogp star who has hardly even touched an F1 car in talks of being in ferrari in a couple of years

WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO F1??

Here is a more comprehensive article from ITV-F1.

Ferrari and Williams will be hoping that Toyota decides to opt for Japanese rubber in 2006 for their mutual benefit.

I hope this switchover won't hinder williams in any way, they already have the new engine package to deal with. Next years williams could either be very poor or very good.

if it were a less competitve team such as red bull, then I would have concerns as to how much input bridgestone would put into working their tyre aroung the chassis of the red bull car and not just ferrari. However, since it is williams, and toyota are likely to sign up for bridgestone next year, I think the amount of input into each of the individual top teams may be very similar, omitting all the data gathered from the ferraris over the years of course.

Sauber were more competitive on bridgestones, why did they switch?

"Sauber were more competitive on bridgestones, why did they switch?"

the tyres were rubbish compared to what Ferrari were getting and the fact BStone were heavily focused solely on Ferrari. I think it's a good move by Williams and Toyota. If Williams deliver a decent enough chassis, then they could be in line for a strong 2006.

Michelin obviously have no interest in the sport and I think a single control bridgestone tyre would probably be best for f1. michelin stated "they have no intention of wanting to supply tyres to every team on the grid" when they threatened their pullout. Bridgestones are used in many of the lower formulas, and I think it would be a logical step if that were followed through to f1

it was only because bridgestone had some "insider info" about the new cut surface on the banking that the bridgestone teams could run.

aaarghh I still can't believe how ignorant some people are on this issue due to Michelin's comments on the issue. please read this..

I think its exit michelin time. Its the teams that want a control tyre (remember everyone except Ferrari voted for a control tyre). the sooner they leave the better.

hmmm... that's interesting. As I have said in another post, Michelin obviously have no interest in the sport anymore and a control tyre would be the way forward.

I don't really care which company it is. I don't think seasons where one tyre company has the superior tyre are good for the sport, whether its the ferrari years or 2005. Tyres have too much impact on performance, they negate the other aspects of the car.

I can't imagine that either Bridgestone or Michelin would tolerate Red Bull using both, as it would allow too much information to pass to the other tyre supplier through the inevitable relationship between Red Bull and it's yet-to-be-named new "B" team.

I agree with you on this, they won't even let Massa test on Michlens....

Indeed.
