John Todt - The Mouth

Recommended Posts

Ferrari's Jean Todt says he will miss Peter Sauber but not Paul Stoddart when his F1 colleagues exit the Paddock at the end of the 2005 season.

'Peter is a real racer,' the French F1 principal told reporters after the Belgian grand prix at Spa Francorchamps, 'and did great work.'

On the other hand, Todt said Stoddart 'contributed nothing to F1.

'I met him once or twice when he took over Minardi and he once let Michael (Schumacher) drive his two seater. But my feelings about him have since changed.'

Clearly referring to their political scuffles, Todt uttered a resolute 'no' when asked if he would miss Stoddart, after the Australian entrepreneur sold his little Italian team to Red Bull.

The Ferrari boss also thinks Stoddart's departure will be a good thing for the future of grand prix racing. Minardi's new owner, Dietrich Mateschitz, has already allied his existing team with Ferrari and the FIA by signing the new 2008 Concorde.

He added: '(Mateschitz's) bravery is admirable. It is courageous enough to take over a team, but to take over a second is very impressive.'

Well I ask you all WHEN did John Todt EVER allow a new driver to his race team?

As for P.S. well maybe, just maybe, he introduced the world's YOUNGEST driver to F1 to become Champion, a whole lot more then that pumped up Ferrari Manager EVER has DONE.

So with Stoddart gone then WHO will bring along up and coming drivers in the future ?????? Sure wont be John Todt, that much I will BET on !

ok first of all its Jean Todt. Jean not John.

P.S. simply introduced anyone who was willing to put in the money into his team. none of the top teams ever take rookie F1 drivers except in special cases where the drivers have already shown themselves to be stand out racers elsewhere eg montoya, and maybe rossi in 2007.

up and coming drivers will come through the lower series and as test drivers, and the lower teams will take rookies. what we will see less of is pay drivers. I don't seewhat is wrong with that.

not in his rookie year, and he was good in sauber. Ferrari would have taken him if they didnt already have a better driver. if he had started in minardi it would have taken more time to move up.

BUT I do recall that drivers and comentators were very much agrivated how this young driver with what appeared to have little experience in top line motor racing managed to get an F1 Licence to race ! do you not recall that ??

Jean Todt has got some nerve speaking out about Stoddart like that. Perhaps the little Frenchman doesnt realise that he's hated by millions of f1 fans, its his fault that ferrari have become alienated from the other teams, and its his fault that its almost impossible for f1 to progress in the right direction - ie improving the racing, cutting costs, reducing salaries and testing etc. Its his fault that a no-hoper like Massa gets a ferrari seat and it is he who seems to think ferrari is bigger than f1

And stoddart has the perfect right to blame Ferrari for everything? Remember it was stoddart who started the blame Ferrari antics at indy with his comments of 9 teams agreed, 1 did not. I do not see how he ever deserves to be forgiven for that. add to that his legal work at australia.
its almost impossible for f1 to progress in the right direction - ie improving the racing, cutting costs, reducing salaries and testing etc.

I can only take your reference to salaries as a dig on what Michael gets paid. Surely you are not alleging that team personnel in F1 teams should be paid less? In most other sport people very proudly air statistics about how much winners get paid. Do you have an objection to what top golfers, tennis players, basketball players, boxers earn? as I said earlier, its capitalism live with it.

I do not see how Ferrari have opposed 'improving the racing'.

ok JEAN TODT then.

So tell me what his EXCUSE for his teams UNLIMITED practise sessions next year will be, if, as has been reported another team i.e WILLIAMS "which I am reliably informed is a top budgeted team", switch to Bridgestone tyres ?

Jean/John whatever just plainly "p**sess in the pocket of the FIA" for his teams benefits with very little, if any, regard to the STATUE of F1.

Todt's being abit of a childish pr!ck when he says Stoddy has contributed nothing to F1. I mean, Paul only saved one of F1's much loved team's from extinction AND gave drivers such as Webber and Alonso their starts in F1, whilst Albers looks like he'll have a future in F1.

Good point nojvnof1, I wish we could say that to Todt, see how he replies to that! Although I don't think he'd give a crap if Minardi went bankrupt anyway

But cant you see that THIS is the problem with F1 ?

When ONE team acts in the best interest of itself with little or absolutely NO regard to the rest of the teams, then the whole eschelon of F1 becomes farsical ?????

IF F1 was a business under one roof and ferrari ( read Jean Todt) was an employee and he wanted to do what he wanted to do with little regard to the rest of his work mates, I suspect that business would go broke over night !

In the business world it is called " Networking" or " working as a team" is this not what F1 should be like also ?

all rhetoric no facts, typical Ferrari hater.
