Newey working on FIA wing - 28 November 2005

McLaren's exiting technical director, Adrian Newey, has allegedly been working with the governing FIA to fine-tune its 'duel rear wing' concept.

British publication 'Autosport' asserted that the overtaking-inspiring idea is therefore likely to get a more favourable vote in this week's 'technical working group'.

The governing body, led by Max Mosley, wants to introduce the concept in 2007, a full season ahead of the next 'Concorde Agreement'.

F1's 'TWG', which would need to vote 80 per cent for the idea, is scheduled to meet Friday.

Mosley's radical bodywork proposal - also including fatter, slick tyres - was outlined to teams shortly after the Shanghai season finale.

Asked about Newey's speculated involvement, a spokesman for the FIA said: 'It would be inappropriate of us to say anything on the matter.'

The news, however, would make sense, given that Newey is arguably the leading aerodynamicist in F1 - not to mention the fact that he will not formally switch from McLaren to Red Bull until February.

No, I will not. You start far too many threads in the forum, many of them useless, and deserve to be on the razor's edge for this. I want full articles from you all the time for you are not the one to decide what is important and what is not.
