Fernando Alonso was officially crowned world champion at the FIA prize-giving in Monte Carlo on Friday evening.

Alonso, the first Spanish title-holder as well as the youngest in history (aged 24), was presented with his trophy at the gala ceremony attended by Prince Albert of Monaco, FIA president Max Mosley and motorsport glitterati.

Well done Champions!

Alonso really seems humble and down to earth.

Yep, Alonso is a star. No ego and is very gracious. He will be a great champion. I'm really happy for him.

I don't see how singing "We Are the Champions" is arrogant, or for that matter his duck and win count signals. I guess that makes Michael's victory leap whenever he wins arrogant as well. It's nothing more than a outlet of emotion.

Yeah, Micheal was in a class of his own when it came to flaunting it. Not to mention his hand gestures to the Italian national anthem, which got him into trouble.

Im not judging FA or MS for their celebrations, I think if you are the best at what you do, you might as well enjoy it.

Theres nothing wrong with anyones celebrations, I thought Alonso singing was quite funny. I only had a problem with him saying he could have won more races, considering he was gifted a few wins by mclaren

I just figured this out. The rivalry between Renault and McLaren this year was like Prost and Senna in 1988 at Suzuka. Think about it:

Senna had a slow start (McLaren), but once he got on his feet, he did many wonderful things, but in this case, he didnt catch Prost, who was Renault in this metaphor.

Think about it. One had a slow start, but after getting on his feet, he did great things, but in this case he didnt pass Prost. Think about it. :eusa_think:
