Jimmyk, I beg to differ here and you have not got the facts exactly right here. Benneton CLAIMED (there is a big difference) that they never used it and more importantly, the FIA's investigation proved absolutley nothing! What the FIA's conclusions were was that they could not prove that the ILLEGALLY INSTALLED traction control software was used by Benneton. The reason, they didn't have any sensors on the cars at that time that could monitor if this was the case and give them the empiracle data to prove it. Result, because they couldn't actually prove that Benneton used it they therefore ruled they could not penalise them. It doesan't mean that benneton were not using the system and that the FIA didn't believe that they were not guilty of cheating. The entire investigation was brought forward because the FIA believed they in fact were cheating.

There's and old saying that goes "where there is smoke there is fire". In this case, what the devil was that illegal system installed on the car for during races if the team had no intention of using it?? There was one BIG SMOKING GUN HERE and everyone new it.

Jimmyk, the fact is everyone in F1 including the FIA new Benneton was using it and were cheating. The problem was there was no way to prove it at the time!! Bye the way, in the years to come, you might find it interesting to know that one of the motivating factors for MAX Mosley to approve traction control in the regs was due to the fact that the FIA came to the conclusion that they had no effective way monitoring illegal usage and thus couldn't police it. they therefore allowed to be used by all to level the playing field.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I actually stumbled onto your site by chance, I must be dexlexic cause I was trying to open the German f1 site F1Total and must have reversed the total with the F1! I ended up reaching your site, which I must say was a pleasant surprize and I look forward to frequenting it in the future.
